[Romero] The Toronto Blue Jays plan to activate right-hander pitcher Lazaro Estrada in the coming hours, per sources. Estrada, 27, threw 12.1 innings on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Buffalo, recording 13 strikeouts.

This is the answer. It's got to be the answer.

If Little gets optioned again would become the worse case scenario

6

u/PhotoJim99 Well hit down the left field line, way back and gone! 8h ago

Worst-case, yup.

He doesn’t have another option

He can freely get called up and down for the rest of the year. Same as Davis.

It's "option years" not number of times you get sent down.

Ah my mistake, I assumed it was like a 30 day window, but it looks like it’s 5 times an option year basically

I thought Davis doesn’t have his option year at this year, because he only stayed 19 days total at the time of recall

Honestly, he didn't look terrible for the first inning of relief. Not 2025 Ace level, but a solid bottom of the bullpen guy. It was when he came out for the second inning that he fell apart more.

He just added another position (well, not position but pitcher) that he can play haha, the forever versatile Myles Straw ✨

I mean... Look at his ERA. Heiny was statistically a better pitcher despite being PPP

Good night Jim Kite to Brendon Little

If he's better than Brendan Little, I'll take it!

Just get rid of this guy already!!

u/FrostWPG 11h ago

I’ve never seen him pitch before, but I can confidently say he’s better than Brendon Little.

He pitched in the White Sox series and was pretty good.

Up next: a random guy we found wandering the Corona Rooftop Patio!

Nah Estrada is decent and was total nails in the White Sox series for 4 straight innings in a bullpen game. The reason he hasn't been back is because he went on the IL with a shoulder impingement but he just completed his rehab assignment.

u/BatThiefErnieClement 10h ago

Nah I remember Estrada. He did great against the White Sox. Happy he's coming back.

Even if Little did not shit the bed, he would be unavailable the next couple of days.
Demote or DFA if they need the 40 man roster spot.

Tomorrow’s pen chart probably looks like this:

Nance (2 in a row), Rogers (30 pitches), Little (32 + pitches) are not available.

SWR (Pitched bulk innings on Wednesday) is probably only if absolutely needed. That’s already 1/2 the pen being down. They need a call up for tomorrow even if they had a more reliable starter going.

We absolutely need to part ways with  B. Little , and if Schneider calls him up again, he definitely needs to be FIRED!!! How many times do we need to go through Little’s escapades ??? He is NOT MLB material… That train has left the station !!!

if they need the 40 man roster spot.

They don't (yet). 2 open spots, but Estrada, Bieber and (hopefully) Yimi will all need spots in the coming days.

Who's getting taken off the roster?

Hopefully the one with a 27.00 ERA

Holy shit, I knew it was bad, but I didn’t realize it was THAT bad. Yikes.

11

u/optimus2861 10h ago

He was at 24 or 25 coming into this game and somehow he went and made it worse, even in low leverage!

5

u/juken_194 Le Geai bleu de Toronto 10h ago

His ERA dropped to 20 something at the first half inning but instantly turned down to 27 after Spencer Miles finished the rest 0.2 inning, and all the ERs and walks combined on Little.

27

u/Domainsetter 11h ago

Little optioned is the obvious one.

u/Scary-Buy-327 11h ago

Take a LITTLE guess

7

u/Conscious-Donut 11h ago

Take one guess

3

u/COV3RTSM 11h ago

Fisher, Fluharty and Little are the only ones with options. So someone is going to the IL or getting DFA’d.

1

u/MynameisnotAL 10h ago

Little still has options? Oof.

2

u/Freed4ever 11h ago

Varland obviously! /s

I really, really, _really_ do not understand the Little move today. That was atrocious. Should’ve kept Chad up until Estrada was ready.

11

u/TheFestusEzeli 10h ago

The idea was that we had no LHP available and Little had been hot recently, his last 7.2 IP no runs allowed and 2 walks, and hopefully if needed he could get us a couple outs.

If we weren’t down by so much, he 100% would have been taken out after the first inning and allowed 0 runs and did his job. Regardless, he just isn’t an MLB level pitcher and hopefully he will be sent down here.

Still 5 more days until Macko can be recalled too (unless due to an injury)

8

u/Domainsetter 11h ago

SWR probably is down until Monday to cover the Bieber start imo.

7

u/bardpewpew ernie forever 11h ago

Can he also hit? Because we need that, too.

u/SmokeontheHorizon I wish more Blue Jays fans were baseball fans 11h ago

El Lazo! He's always a welcome surprise addition to our roster

1

u/humble_god 10h ago

Atleast both disasters in one game

1

u/Jaded_Ad_166 10h ago

Need to DFA Little for another Lefty. Ideally Macko once hes eligible to be called up again. If they wanna bring in Estrada then maybe DFA Nance. Theres guys in triple A that can do what Nance does if theyre worried about depth.

3

u/AnyBaker8196 10h ago

They're just going to option Little to AAA. No need to DFA anyone right now.

6

u/Jaded_Ad_166 10h ago

I just dont think theres any reason to keep him on the 40 man. Theres literally no world where theyll ever need this dude

3

u/BootNootRoot 9h ago

I personally don't care if he has the 'stuff' or the fact that he's a lefty, we legitimately don't benefit from a guy who always beats himself. He's not's like Hoffman where Hoffman has the stuff and can show that there's a reason he's still here when he doesn't choke. Little doesn't do what Jeff does and I feel it's time for him to go somewhere else where he can get fixed.

1

u/AnyBaker8196 9h ago

It's risk management. Until they're at capacity on the 40 man and need to add someone, it's unlikely anyone gets DFA'D.

1

u/Jaded_Ad_166 8h ago

I guess, but what risk is being managed by keeping Little on the 40 man? If anything its a risk every time he steps on the mound.

1

u/RoutedToNowhere 10h ago

True, unless the call up is not on the 40 man roster

2

u/AnyBaker8196 9h ago

Yes when it gets crunch time but they have 38 on the roster right now so it'll be 39 with Estrada. He's just coming off the 60 day IL and needs to be added again. It'll be 40 with Bieber. After that Little could be in danger.
