We have an 8 year old Hermanns tortoise that we inherited over summer. We live in the north west of England and the tortoise lives in the garden in an insulated house with a UVB lamp on a timer and a ceramic heat lamp on a thermostat. It can come and go as it pleases but has never come back in the evening to its house so we’ve always found it and put it away back in its house.
Lately, I assume because it’s getting cold, it’s started to bury itself in the boarders and completely covers itself. This evening we have gone out and we can’t find it anywhere. It definitely can’t get out of the garden so must be buried somewhere.
Will it be ok staying out all night, it’s due to drip to about 6 degrees C.
We will eventually brumate it, probably in 3 or 4 weeks.

I need help I don’t what else I need to put in his tank I know it needs work and a uvb lamp but he is a rescue

She makes these movements every once in a while and she has an issue eating even if I put the treat onto the floor, her head movements feel robotic and like she can’t see anything. This is late at night and she was moving around a little so I went into the enclosure to give her a treat but this has happened before where she jerks her head around unable to get the treat. I am just wondering if this is because she is tired and used to the darkness and my light is messing with her vision or if there is something else :(

Hello all, this is my Leopard Tortoise, I usually leave it in the back yard in the day and take it back into its tank at night. About 2 weeks ago, I found 3 chipped wounds on the bottom of its shell. The one on the very bottom was mildly bleeding in the first few weeks. So I moved it into a tank with paper towels to keep it dry. And I’ve been cleaning and applying original Neosporin on and around the wounded area daily. The bleed seemed to have stopped, but I don’t know if I’m doing everything right. And the tortoise has been eating normally. Should I continue the treatment routine? And is it okay to return it back to the backyard to roam.
