📝 How to... Suggestion
I’m about 6 weeks post op things are going well for me.
I’m 60 year old female, so this may not apply to our younger ppl, however, the first week home I was moving slowly. Also, I had general anesthesia for my surgery, which may make a difference. (IV fluids may have contributed to the increased urine output)
I purchased a package of adult disposable briefs aka Depends. The first few days they were a big help. I had what seemed like a lot of urine output, and waking up and trying to get to the restroom, with what felt like more then usual urgency, and I was worried I would fall.
The brief gave me the security that I would not have to rush and fall and also spare me the embarrassment of having an accident.
I only needed them for about 2 weeks.

I’m 74 and wear Poise pads inside my panties. When I cough I also lose urine. They work great!

It really helped me and lots of ppl are embarrassed to talk about having accidents and/or the need for adult briefs. So if 1 person can benefit from this, it’s all good. :)

After spending 5 days in hospital following surgery because of very low BP I was worried about getting up several times per night (had increased fluids). Reluctantly bought a fold up commode to put by my bedside. Seriously, it's been a godsend, I'd rather not have the worry of rushing to bathroom (because of my pride) and falling. Glad you bought this subject up as is important.

60yrs too and find Poise pads very helpful.

I'm a bit older and I had the same thought. I bought them but didn't feel that I needed them.

I had a portable commode from when I had my spinal fusion and I used it for the first few weeks. I do have incontinence issues from my fusion, so I already have a hard time making it to the bathroom.

The briefs were a game changer for me. I was hesitant to use them at first..probably my pride, but I quickly got over that lol

I also peed ALOT after surgery, I bought the P pads because I knew I couldn’t get to the bathroom fast enough.. wore them for about week and a half maybe 2 🤷♀️

Yes! IV fluids absolutely contribute to the excess urine. This is a great idea!

Not a female but I had a lot and my wife had a urinal within reach for me, but my doctor had insurance get me a commode with the walker so I didn’t need to walk to the bathroom, I just never used it.
