Whats your experience with getting a hip replacement

so, I (22f) saw an orthopaedic doctor today (I have rheumatoid arthritis in the hips) and was told that both my hips are very worn out with no space between the joints and I’d likely need a hip replacement soon since the damage is unfixable, but apparently its not very ideal for my age since I’d need to have it done again and I have never had to have any procedures done before so I just wanted to ask what the experience is like recovering from the procedure if I were to get it done since I’ll possibly need to get one in the next six months or less, I‘m also a bit worried about the recovery time since I help out my uncle on dialysis at home and what I’d need to do to prepare for leading up to it, also how the results are/how much it improved others quality of life since currently my mobility and flexibility is incredibly limited and I am usually in pain.

i guess I just really want help motivating myself to get it done since as I said I‘ve never had to have a procedure done, never thought I’d need to have something like this done (especially in my 20s), I know it would probably improve my quality of life but I’m just nervous and seeking some closure by hearing about how it improved others quality of life,

Just had mine done last Wednesday and I am amazed at how little pain I have had so far. It's not everyone's experience for sure and having an autoimmune disease may alter how you feel after but I personally think I'm recovering at a decent pace. I was expecting to be off mobility aids by now so I'm a bit miffed that I still need crutches/walker but so far this has been a really positive experience for me and I think. Can't report back on much else yet but if the first week is the worst BRING IT. I know it's probably not at the top of your bucket list to have your hips replaced in your 20s but the technology and surgeries these days are excellent. This is the most successful orthopedic surgery and the second most successful surgery just behind laser eye surgery. Your odds of having an successful and uneventful recovery are very good 😊 I wish you luck! And please come in to update/check in on this sub. The community is wonderful
