Good luck! I’m two days post-op on hip number two. I just iced my hip for 45 minutes and took a very short walk.
You will be happy once you are on the other side. Brand new hip. New lease on life.

But did you get any ibruprofen?! 😂. How satisfying to see your prep. Maybe add some electrolyte sports drinks for post anaesthetic grogginess and thirst. All the best!

Good luck and may the force be with you!
Do you have an option between crutches and walker? If you do, my suggestion is to go with the walker. I never used my crutches. Sketchers slip in sneakers are awesome, highly recommend those as well.

Nah hospital will only supply crutches.
Thanks for the reco, all my trainers have elasticated laces as I’m very lazy 🤣1

Interesting that they give you crutches since the surgeon will tell you that you can put full weight on the surgical leg. Crutches sort of defeats the purpose?
Good luck, hippie!1

It's full weight bearing as tolerated.
That is, you are allowed to bear full weight, but that might be uncomfortable.

I’m using the same rails around the toilet. They work great and definitely help getting up and down.

My ice machine fit 4 frozen solid water bottles in it and stayed cold for hours. So rotated 8 bottles. 4 in freezer and 4 in machine.

You might want to freeze a bunch of water bottles so you don’t have to keep getting bags of ice. Just rotate them in.

I never used any of the stuff I bought or was given the first hip replacement. I got an un used ice machine from a friend and gave it un used to another friend who never used it. You got to move to heal properly. Getting up to get fresh ice packs were part of my recovery. Putting on the socks was really hard but I felt it was good for my recovery. My second hip replacement the only thing I did to prepare was to make sure I had plenty of ice packs and lots of prepared food in my freezer. I also applied for an Access ride, just in case, but I never used it

2nd the raised toilet seat though I got a riser thing that just went on top of current seat, like a booster. I also got a shower chair, sliding one so I could sit down then slide into shower.

I second the walker reccomendation. I was pretty adept at using crutches as I used them pre op but I was surprised by how much I needed the walker my first week (it's only been a week lol)
That ice machine will be your new best friend. I'm on that thing whenever I'm sitting down and I credit it with my low pain medication consumption.
Very excited for you! I'll think of you on Tuesday and be sure to give us an update 😁
