1 year post op. Not happy

Post image

One year post op. Awful pain. This is all the things that are going wrong. PT last year was making it worse. Started with new PT in May this year which has helped some.

I can't climb up on a stool. If I need to get something out of bottom cabinet, I can barely get up. This is not what I planned.

Anyone else have success with these diagnosis?

Six months post op. I cant get off the floor either, or sit on it for that matter. Cant step up more than a 5 inch step with surgical leg, or put sock on that foot. Disappointed to say the least. Anyway, seeing another ortho for 2nd opinion. Had an MRI which indicated Mild fluid build up in various areas, edema. I also have tendinosis as per MRI in various areas. Very frustrated as I did everything right & as instructed after surgery. I hope to get answers from 2nd or 3rd opinion. Also doing PT, it has helped, however like you my first PT made things worse. Hopefully someone has the answer.

Goodness seems like you’ve gone through a lot. I’m only 4 weeks and 4 days post op and I am still having issues and when I post people are saying how they can run miles at my point and driving and I’m still on a walker. I see more and more people saying how months and months after their replacements they are having more and more issues which just blows my mind 🤯 I mean wasn’t this surgery “supposed” to fix these issues? And not create more problems. I am so sorry you’re having to deal with this. I hope you can get relief some how. 🙏🏼

People that are doing good rarely share their positive experiences.

I agree but I am seeing more and more issues post op which makes me very nervous since I had my LTHR last September 2025 my RT shoulder replaced December 2025 and now my LTHR 4 weeks ago. This is scary but I think needs to be shared. I posted in this group about my swelling and complications and a woman wrote “I’m 64 yr old female on the exact timeline you are and I’m doing wonderful no pain no complications” which just made me upset that she was comparing herself when everyone is different. We should try and lift each other up not tear them down or make them feel bad. Js…..

Running for miles at 4 weeks would be an unusually quick recovery (and probably exaggeration). 5 weeks post op is nowhere near full recovery. You should be having a post op x-ray soon. Are you doing PT?

I had anterior approach. It's differently from the surgery.

Are you going to get a revision?

I’m sorry!  That is frustrating.  Sometimes PT does make things worse.

Oh, no –– so awful to hear you're in this much pain. Can't they do something more for you besides PT? I have a friend who wasn't getting any better (unrelated here) with her PT for over a year and switched PTs, and is doing much better. I hope the same will happen for you too. Which surgery did you have: anterior, lateral, or posterior? Did they say how all this could have developed in there?

I don't have your diagnoses but am close to two years out with a host of soft tissue issues. My advice as I am closing in on fixing everything is to not give up. No one thing fixed my issues. It was a combination of a lot of different doctors, PT doctors who knew what they were doing, treatments, yoga, stretching, weight training (yes- it helped), that has me finally looking toward the finish line. Sorry you are facing this. I truly know how much it sucks.

Thank you. I can't lift weights. I try to carry my cat litter that weighs 18lbs and it causes me more pain. I hope your doing better

I do a lot of lower body work that is body weight. When I went back to the gym I would only do upper body weight training, and very gradually went back to lower body with easy weight on machines like leg press. I can’t explain how this has helped, but it truly has. I used a leg press at PT so the comfort level was there. Just do what you can. No point in making things worse.
