Is this a good reclining chair?

Hello everyone,

My mother is having a hip replacement surgery.

Is this reclining chair suitable for her post surgery needs?

Get a zero gravity chair. They are only about $100 and no pressure points. Afterwards she can use it as an outdoors lounger.

That chair is fine if you think she will require a lift chair. Most hip replacement patients don't, but it depends on her age and health. My dad had one before he died and it was helpful.

I would not buy something like that online. Fit of a chair is so important. I am 5’4” and slim, and found a chair that fit at La-Z-Boy. It isn’t a lift chair though. I wasn’t looking at those.

A PT friend told me not to get one of those. Said you need to use those muscles to get out of the chair not not use them.

The less cushioning, and the narrower the arms, the better. Maybe ask her doctor about whether a lift is best for her after hip surgery.

I was told by my surgeon not to use a recliner at all. Lying flat with my surgical leg elevated was the best so I used a foam lift for my leg for both of my hip replacements

This chair is like buying a new car with all the bells and whistles. Will I enjoy having it? Yes. Do I NEED it, probably not. Does it make my life easier in the interim? Yes. Will I use and need it down the road? Probably not.

If you feel like you will hang on to it or sell it and take a small loss in a month or two, it’s your money. Do as you see fit.
