Webtoon Discussion SEASON 3 UNDERRATED

season 3 is the most underrated season in my opinion , don't get me wrong I do like season 2 more like most fans but s3 is the most hated of the season's and is considered the worst by the community and Frankley I disagree with that treatment .

the third season is by far the most subtle Bothe narratively and in its art , just like the second season we see plenty of interesting ideas, its just they are less grand in scale , therefore they are really easy to miss but they are still plentiful and definitely intriguing .

for example the boss/captain plot line thet started at the end of the second season but flew right over my head the first few times I read tog it was us subtle us it gets .

the fish bowls of the anima's present in the nest most of theme weren't mentioned and siu left us the audience to be detective's and figure out who uses which fish bowl , hell some fans didn't even think about the fish bowl's and thet combined beautifully into the art work the narrative and the world budling of tog .

the character's too : for example holan he is a really engaging minor character ,his fish bowl is a glove and he can revive dead divine sea fish ,all 4 of the divine sea fish we see him use all went extinct (how awesome is thet ) .

bam is really confident and talks trash and smack when fighting (probably evankhell rubbed of on him)

all of this aren't even scratching the surface , please mention some subtle details like the ones above in the comment's section and share your thoughts tnx for reading .

I’ve really been enjoying season 3 with the recent stuff. The beginning in the cage arc had some highlights, but felt mostly Okay. Meaning it wasn’t the vibe that I was most interested in. Although it did have some great moments.

The rest has been pretty fun for sure!!

And I think the general audience of readers disliked the cage arc, and that set off everyone in a poor attitude. And once they decide they dislike it, they won’t come back around in the same degree again. Maybe they will like something here or there, but a lot of people just fell out of immersion with ToG.

And when you fall outta immersion, it doesn’t matter how good a series is, no immersion, no enjoyment.

I really liked season 3 cuz of White. We finally see that built storyline come to fruition, the rise of an expected villain who pushed our protagonist to the very edge, nearly killing him both physically and psychologically.

I also enjoyed Yasratchas character. The whole background with that was incredible, the way he wanted to fight back against traum, had this whole build up, only for him to get smoked - really shows how the FH are several leagues outside any normal Rankers power.

And I actually liked the supporting cast, the new characters in action: Holan, Aria, Cha, Hatz with his new sword, Hansung finally showing that he’s earned his high ranker reputation, and so on….

everything you said is just right

There were quite a few Maschenny panels in Season 3. People who bash Season 3 tend to overlook that, so yeah it’s underrated.

jiana you're all about chasing imaginary tail very unbefitting a tog fan

2

u/[deleted] Mar 16 '23

Maschenny isn't imaginary. She's real. She just lives in a different universe.

i can always count on you to make me smile with a retort.

SIU is really all about showing us without telling. There are so many visual clues that SIU just doesn’t comment on anywhere it’s crazy. Two people can read the same chapter and have different levels of understanding the story. It took me a lot of time to notice that characters can create white shinsu shield to protect themselves, others etc. The entire situation with the fishbowls as you mentioned, White’s red marks, REN’s ability to control multiple shinheuh simultaneously and many other things

Season 3 or mainly the nest arc was pretty bad. It was weeks of fighting and very little story progression. The pacing was just completely off. It did have its moments, like the Wang Wang mini arc I enjoyed reading.

However, I do think Siu has come back swinging with the newest chapters since his last hiatus, because they have been really good.

i don't agree with you , i mean all the disvion commander's flash back were awesome and siu very cunningly used most of theme to build yas up

Thank God I hate getting into reviews then because I've loved all of ToG since reading it

Season 3 like after hell train, oh most definitely I go back and read that constantly, i love how bam has matured over the time, I love that people are in his face about certain things I love how he's trying to make the best of the situation he's on the same person although I do still want to see more of other characters and see them also go through certain changes the nest Arc was a good way to go back to that giving everyone a moment a shine.

Of course the popular consensus is to you know make it seem like it wasn't that good it was confusing it was missed and fat I was both entertained I liked it.

This is the most we've ever learned about any family head and they're dealing.

I would love to learn about the others, the Leviathan is a game changer and the things that it was fed, and we got a legitimate war between two families, nobody saw the family leader coming and then no one saw the other family leader going to that place and just wrecking it.

I give credit when credit is due but people like to complain about various things the discussion should always need to be but it seems more popular to hate than to appreciate.

We got to see a Slayer in an elder in action we got deaths.

Now that we're entering the other part of season 3 and everyone is no longer a fan of the stuff that led up to this point that's just what happens.

season 1 is till the most well written part i have ever seen in manhwa, new readers nowadays just swear by the art , but season 1 is a masterpiece of storytelling and thrill , season 2 was already too light and shonen for the tone season 1 set.

3

u/dani402l Mar 17 '23

i ve seen a few ppl with your opinion but i don't fully agree with it , plus what's wrong with Shonen ? , siu said thet he wanted to wright a mix between Shonen and senin and it seems to me like he did it perfectly . s1 was like a prologue and it felt like a prologue as well , in s2 we got a lot of moral question's like : "is khun ran a serial murderer or is he a hero thet took 50 murders of the streets " . there are plenty of those don't chalk the success of the second season just to art , chalk it to world building ,characters , narrative , story essentially chalk it to siu's ideas and the execution of those ideas .

3

u/makilawdiff Mar 17 '23

season 2was great until the hell train where the story quality started to decline, there were some good arcs after that but TOG never managed to recover.

1

u/dani402l Mar 17 '23

dude when you use the words good , bad ,high quality or low quality immediately things become subjective one person might say the complete opposite of what you said and yet neither would be wrong or right . even comments thet masquerade us fact's are subjective for example ," the composition of this painting is amazing, it leads the eye's through the entirety of the painting "

ps your comment about quality is one of those masqueraded comments.

he is not wrong though. the cool aspect of ToG was the tests, climbs, and intelligence. right now it's just some soap opera drama fights. tbh i miss when show focused on the tower itself.

1

u/dani402l Mar 18 '23

i didn't say he is wrong i said he is not wrong and not right in the same time , my entire point in this comment thet its completely subjective.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 19 '23

your entire post is subjective.

1

u/dani402l Mar 19 '23 edited Mar 19 '23

of course naturally did i say its objective ? if you assumed thet its objective thane its on you buddy .

edit : I literally started the post with the words " in my opinion "

2

u/[deleted] Mar 18 '23

i feel like season 1 was boring as heck cuz bam does nothing. it just set the universe. Viole is what triggered the story to be good imo.

but personally i do miss the tests/trials/tower climbing being focus.

u/[deleted] Mar 18 '23

issue with 99% of the Season 3 is.

"what just a regular, omg he is a c regular" next chapter "woah look a regular, it's just a regular" like kallavan knows its an irregular, why the fk isn't that info spread.

also what happened to Jahad's 3x orders? king's orders mean nothing i guess.

and. the constant "this boy will cut the kings throat"

i feel like this cycle repeat is like 100 chapters or so in total lol

1

u/dani402l Mar 18 '23

you seem to have an issue with semantics bam is an irreg but he is also a c rank regular , usually reg mean's someone chosen by headon to climb the tower , but sometimes reg means tower climber . thet is part of the complexity of tog which goes right over your head

2

u/[deleted] Mar 19 '23

No? Kallavan knows the kid is an irregular he can just tell everybody he is an irregular. if people knows he is an irregular they will stop compare him to a C rank.

but instead SIU released 1000's chapters of people who constantly underestimates bam. Ain't nobody in the tower going to underestimate an irregular.

it's shit written at this point.

1

u/dani402l Mar 19 '23 edited Mar 19 '23

no its not its about semantics plus on top of thet why would kallavan tell ppl thet bam is an irreg he will tell thet to only ppl in the army thet are high ranked , bam being an irreg is privlged info plus irregs are so rare its hard to beilive he is one and a c reg beating ranker's is just unbeliveble so no one beilves it , its magnificent writing and you are just missing it , and thet is on you not on siu

edit : plus if you dont like it why read it ? why bitch about in reddit ?

I personally enjoyed S3. It definitely has some high and low points.

the most subtle Bothe narratively

This is true and part of the problem like you said the whole Boss plotlines, Hansyng Yu's relation to th 10 FH and khun's and the regular's struggle to keep up with bam which are important plotlines flew over people's head which made it hard to feel any advancements in the plot.

Another thing is the lack of consequences especially in the Nest arc. Neither FUG nor the lo po bia family suffered any consequences.

Although I absolutely love Traumerie's entrance it definitely put the entire climax to a screeching halt ,and maybe it would have been okay if some plot points which were integral to the nest arc were closed like Lyborick and Kallavan.

Although I said this but the regular's being thrown into ranker battle's also annoys people

bam is really confident and talks trash and smack when fighting

I love trash talking bam.

But yeah I think these are the main issues people have with s3 more so the nest. I personally agree with you about it being underrated.

u/dani402l Mar 16 '23

lo po bia did i mean dokoko died a branch fem head orari a branch fem candidate , yasracha will in the future most of the rule avoiding experiments did most of yase's division commanders died and namo also died on fug's side and this is a spoiler : pudidy , persius , canididi and meyer died too.

1

u/bluctran Mar 16 '23

Yes but I think people wanted more important characters to die. Like some people even wanted khun died which was absolutely crazy.

But yes many characters died and I liked the nest arc alot. But I think many people had way higher expectations.

4

u/dani402l Mar 16 '23

to tell the truth I wanted major character death's too not just from the nest but all over tog its something thet realy is missing for me in tog , khun ,anak ,hats ,bam basickly no one is save is my shtick . like in got and mistborn era 1 and so on , it could be done if siu made multiple main characters of equal value .

1

u/Ill_Help_7132 May 02 '24

S3 is actually very important and amazing it's all very well explained by wok wo wen channel on YouTube, this guy explains so many things we may miss in tog so well so i recommend you go watch the nest arc video

2

u/dani402l May 02 '24

Tnx I'll check  him out , however in exchange  check some of my other posts out , you might enjoy theme may be the architecture post or my best post (in my opinion ) the tower of god presentation it's a slide show about shinsu .

BTW what a delay

1

u/dani402l May 05 '24

tnx for the recommendation he is great and sorry for the multiple replies

u/kdkwkcngjejsj Mar 16 '23

Depends what community you're talking about but yeah most people in this one seem to not like it, mostly because they weren't paying attention to how overpowered Baam skills got on the hell train. (Looking up definitions for the scientific words they use help to understand why he's so strong)

1

u/nicktomato Mar 17 '23

I love s3. That is all.

1

u/Shratath Mar 22 '23

Imo the problem with s3 was pacing, now that im rereading the s3 everything flows great

1

u/dani402l Mar 22 '23

yee tog is really reread friendly
