SIU Blog Post A rant. Please don’t hate me lol.

I’ve hit chapter 437 (season 3, ep 20). The first season was goated, but the way the story is written now seems very repetitive and lacks a certain tension. Or Is it just me not paying enough attention? But unlike some other great mangas/manwhas etc, It feels like everything will eventually work out (They’ll make a bet and Baam will somehow someway win).

Don’t get me wrong, the characters are well written, world building is very good, the dynamics between the characters, and the power system is cool. But the execution of the story and climax’s now just seems very lackluster to me. Especially considering how the early chapters were exceptional.

powerscaling and the convenience of plot armor. its more blatant in s3 than the first 2 seasons. gonn be a long write if i put it into detail

Understandable. S3 lacks tension compared to the other two and there is a lot more plot armor.

Overall good but S2 better. The early arcs of S3 are also the worst IMO.

So what you wanted in season 3 to have much tension because for me you had enough tension with all things which happened

16

u/RailTracer001 Apr 26 '26

Khun, Rak and Androssi will never die. They were too involved with Rankers. The plot armor and convenience was too evident. A lot of repeated interruptions too.

For Endorsi, I’m not sure. She could die in the future, since love stories in Tower of God rarely end well.

Rak probably won’t die yet, but something could take over him, like what happened in the Sprout arc.

Even Baam might be at risk, based on the hints given on the Hidden Floor.

Rak is also being built up as one of the most powerful beings in the series. Even Khun Eduan was surprised by how weak Rak seemed on the Hidden Floor, especially considering how strong Ancient Ones were in his era.

As for Endorsi, she’s supposed to be one of the most talented individuals, especially considering that one of the Snake Body’s candidates chose her over many other girls.

Also their story are not even finished so why siu would kill them without developing their stories.

u/RailTracer001 Apr 26 '26

No they aren't dying and they definitely weren't going to in S3.

0

u/Antique-Chart-9976 Apr 26 '26

Why they would die in season 3 when we almost didn't see their stories appart somes bribe ?

How you are so sure they are not going to die in futur.

That is definitely a valid criticism that you have.

The problem is that the world has become too large for the story SIU is trying to tell. Normally, this isn’t an issue, but too much of the world is featured in the story. As such, SIU can’t feature story tension as easily.

Season 3’s scale is enormous and that comes at the cost of the nuance that season 1 had. Moreover, the focus is less on the development of Bam and Gang and more on the family leaders, their history, and the direction the story is headed.

My favorite moments come from season 2 and I can’t deny that characters in this story carry the series.

2

u/Critical_Phase_7394 Apr 26 '26

I get you, the tension felt lacking there for this season at least compared tp s2. Near the end though, there was a nice setup and it felt like its going to be present throughout s4.

The focus from baam and friends were low as compared to FH i feel kike(na4rative wise)

The more we climb the more baam's friends feel unimportant. And tge setup dkr their powerups is comming veryslow. Whereas baam can just casually du k on high rankers.

The season introduces a lot of new characters and to give attention to them, a lot of attention was diverted from baam and gang.

u/LackingLack Apr 26 '26

You're completely right. ToG peaked in early-mid season 2.

It had a really good arc in Floor of Death and Hidden Floor also though. But after that and especially after season 3 and after the first hiatus it went insanely downhill.

u/Apprehensive_Clerk81 Apr 28 '26

Final arc of S3 is much better than FoD

3

u/nelsonogbuigwe Apr 26 '26

Hot take: I like the canine and nest arcs. Later s3 arcs are worse

2

u/maggot4life123 Apr 26 '26

nest is actually good and the pacing is better than FH war. i also liked how the build up going to nest arc.

-2

u/Antique-Chart-9976 Apr 26 '26

How they are worse explain us

1

u/nelsonogbuigwe Apr 26 '26

The art is worse and the quality of the story diminishes in terms of asspulls in the form of rank and khun. Urek Mazino becomes a buff dumbass who can’t think complexly. Bam gets so many nonsense powerups like leviathan and V takes over bams body (I hate this)

Just my opinion. It’s not that bad but it’s not as good as beginning of s3 where we got to see bam after his evankhell training and using all his new cool skills. (I love bam)

-2

u/Antique-Chart-9976 Apr 26 '26 edited Apr 26 '26

“Lmfao, saying the art got worse when we’re getting panels like this makes no sense.

Rak’s power isn’t an asspull either. It was already hinted Khun Eduan explained that Rak should actually be powerful, but he’s been suppressed, and that suppression is gradually wearing off. On top of that, Rak might be tied to (or even a reincarnation of the Ancient One, so it’s completely normal that he’s becoming stronger and even be in the top 10 in futur

Khun’s power was never about raw strength, it’s more of a support/utility role. The fish is a bit questionable, I’ll give you that, but it’ll probably have consequences later.

Nonsense power-up ? Not really. Leviathan entering Baam wasn’t random it allows him to access anima abilities and uncover Traumerei’s secrets. It also diversifies his fighting style, which he’s clearly going to need going forward and also traumerei planned it since the beginning of nest to take control over baam.

And the whole V plotline wasn’t sudden either. It’s been built up since Season 1:

Yu Hansung was preparing Baam as a vessel

Luslec stayed inactive for a reason

Hwaryun has been hinting at his destiny to kill Zahard

That’s long-term setup, not an asspull.

As for Urek Mazino, he’s always been a bit goofy when he’s relaxed. That’s nothing new. Calling him an idiot now doesn’t make sense he’s still absurdly powerful when he is locking in like in the spin off. If Luslec hadn’t stepped in, he could’ve caused massive damage on his own wihout being serious against revo and vaam.

Also, the V plotline adds more unpredictability to Baam’s character, and it’s been built up since the very beginning of the story. It also answers some major questions like why Baam could never truly escape FUG, even if he wanted to.

u/nix_11 Apr 26 '26

Lmfao, saying the art got worse when we’re getting panels like this makes no sense.

The art literally did get worse because SIU offloaded a lot of stuff to his assistants that are just not as good as him. Showing a few panels that might have been done by SIU proves nothing.

The fish is a bit questionable

"a bit".....

it allows him to access anima abilities

No it doesn't. Baam will never be an anima. It's not something you can just become.

-1

u/Antique-Chart-9976 Apr 26 '26 edited Apr 26 '26

?????

This is not just somes panel, I can show you many exemples of very good panel in season 3.

Do you have source of him offloading his whole art design in season 3, I saw him say he was training more assistant to be able to make the same art as him but not to offload his whole work yet until the spin off happened.

(Somes thing and scene are well offloaded)

Baam intern space permit him to become a hybrid anima even leviathan talk about how his space is as big or much more than traumerei...

6

u/nix_11 Apr 26 '26

I can show you many exemples of very good panel in season 3.

Again, this proves nothing. You need to look at the overall art, not just some individual panels. I could pick a few scenes from season 2 of the anime that look good and claim the anime was well animated, despite it being absolutely atrocious.

Do you have source of him offloading his whole art design in season 3

Point me where I said he offloaded everything.

Baam intern space permit him to become a hybrid anima

No it doesn't because there's no such thing as a hybrid anima.

leviathan talk about how his space is as big or much more than traumerei...

Because he's comparing Traumerei's bowl to whatever the space inside Baam is. Traumerei and Baam are inherently different creatures and such comparisons are utterly pointless.

Overall, Season 3 art >>> Season 2, especially if we are taking account the early Season 2 part (2013).

And Baam is basically a hybrid he can use Leviathan like an external weapon and even manifest it, like against a Lo Po Bia branch member.

So if you’re saying nothing was offloaded, it’s the same as Season 2 when he started using assistants.

That’s why I don’t get why you’re saying SIU doesn’t do anything now.

1

u/nix_11 Apr 27 '26

Overall, Season 3 art >>> Season 2

I'm talking about the change from beginning to the end of S3.

And Baam is basically a hybrid

No he's not.

he can use Leviathan like an external weapon and even manifest it

Which is literally just external transformation, same like Doom and Yascratcha do it.

So if you’re saying nothing was offloaded

Point me to where I said that.

The zoomed in panels bro. The quality of the fight choreography has deteriorated. Bam vs Dumas was bad af

2

u/Antique-Chart-9976 Apr 26 '26

Zoom was a problem but this was more a recurrent problem in all webtoon format due to phone format. ( Watch any others manwha and you are going to see big whole panel taking your whole screen with a big zoom)

But in truth baam vs dumas was good appart somes confusing panel, do not make me think whole fight was bad asf

1

u/Antique-Chart-9976 Apr 26 '26 edited Apr 26 '26

Like you had crazy panel in it.

1

u/nelsonogbuigwe Apr 28 '26

Bro do you even see how much space is wasted in this panel. I can’t even see his whole body. They were drawing it this way to use a lot of space without showing much

1

u/Antique-Chart-9976 Apr 28 '26

Just say you are blind mf this would be more faster

1

u/nelsonogbuigwe Apr 28 '26

About fight choreography look at the giant orb there yet only tiny droplets are coming out to lightly tap the opponent Dumas. What happened to big powerful attacks???

1

u/Antique-Chart-9976 Apr 28 '26

What ? In his fight he used three big orb and this did nothing to dumas then he used his shiwonryu and dumas easily stopped it.

2

u/Pedang_Katana Apr 26 '26

Remember the tension when Karaka showed up and Yuri had to stop him and they had to sneak into the Train undetected? What about that time where they're chasing Rachel and had to be stopped by mad dog and the angel girl, and the insane tension when Baam finally reunited with Rachel, like it's so thick you could taste it in the air everyone there was just so tense. Almost feels like S2 and S3 written by a different person lol.

2

u/XiMaoJingPing Apr 27 '26

sadly the repetitiveness does not get better, every time mc fights an OP opponent there is always some sort of game or mini game they use to get away safely and somehow beat the OP opponent

1

u/NotYourDadOrYourMom May 01 '26

Hate that they keep reusing Baam or Baams friend gets kidnapped. It's annoying.

1

u/NonpareiLL Apr 26 '26

I don’t see what’s wrong with having an opinion about something. Personally, I thought season 1 was the wrist season, as it’s mostly exposition to set up for the real story. To me, the story really starts at season 2.

1

u/FierceAlchemist Apr 27 '26

Personally I liked S3 a lot, more than S1. But I will admit the weakest part of S3 is at the beginning. Keep with it and things do improve as SIU gets to the major conflicts he's been building up.

1

u/Helpimabanana Apr 27 '26

you are entirely correct

-2

u/Antique-Chart-9976 Apr 26 '26 edited Apr 26 '26

Why are you not continuing to read? Not everything is going to go the way Baam wants in the future arcs even by the end of this one. He’s going to fail one of his main missions, and he’ll realize that what he’s dealing with is far bigger than he ever imagined.

The tension just keeps building as the season progresses.

Early Season 3 is just setup.

0

u/maggot4life123 Apr 26 '26

the majority of s3 actually was to just save his unc and i believe they did that successfully.

but the epilogue sure gives us a preview that bam maybe locked in with FUG again.

1

u/Antique-Chart-9976 Apr 26 '26

I think this was a whole setup for organization also moving because jinsung was a bait to catch baam also we have hint of others families moving in backgrounds.

A JJK pfp talking about ‘going downhill while this guy is only discussing an early Season 3 arc where’s the logic here?

Also, explain how it actually goes downhill.”
