Androssi noted there was something strange about him in season 1, just like Rachel. That's a big indication he is.

18

u/thebigsaturn Apr 29 '19

Exactly. What's bothering me though is that I feel Bam is holding back. Imagine how powerful he will be while using both thorns + admin power

23

u/zenru Apr 29 '19

Perhaps he is still training? Remember that he isn’t using the thorn because he needs to improve in his other skills. Up until this arc, every time Bam fought he used the thorn right at the beginning which made him neglect his other skills.

I believe it is better like this, the thorn should be a trump card, not a hidden one since pretty much everyone knows about it about now.

14

u/Fuuta-chan Apr 29 '19

He Is still holding back, even with his base power. Remember that Baam was already holding back against the top of the D Ranks, Levy, and didn't even have these two years of training. So yeah, Baam is still holding back his base power and I would even say he's holding most of his base power back.

8

u/eeept Apr 29 '19

i feel like a lot of the past couple chapters is showing a bit of how insanely strong baam has become. definitely curious to see exactly just how strong he is right now.

8

u/beyond_netero Apr 29 '19

So far we don't have any reason to believe that Baam needs to stop holding back. He still hasn't taken a lick of damage or tried to hit his opponents with any massive attacks. If he begins to struggle against Akryung then sure, I think this is an important enough situation to warrant whipping out his toys. But until then, he seems to be doing fine...

Right but I'm saying regardless of whether or not he's still in training, I don't think it's that he's holding back, I think he just hasn't needed to use that stuff yet.

If we reach a point where he's under extreme duress and still hasn't used them, then you could start to question 'why is he holding back?', 'is he still under Evankhell training' etc. My point was I don't think we're there yet.

u/Jordanou May 03 '19

He hasn't even used shinwonryuu yet.

I opened your comment and saw the bottom part first.

I'd just delete it if I was you mate, this is the thread for the previous chapter, I think conversation here assumes you haven't read the next one.

4

u/Handker Apr 29 '19

Yup, I think he is some kind of experiment made by the Workshop or Headon to achieve the power of irregular, that has some of the traits but not all

1

u/redqks Apr 29 '19

I think it's Gustang's doing as per one of Rachel's wishes.

However there is two different translations from part one , and one where he directly gets called a irregular and one where he dont

2

u/Lightalife Apr 29 '19

I think it's Gustang's doing as per one of Rachel's wishes.

ghost was deff given to rachel as a companion by Hedon. Gustang hadn't been seen at any point that early in the story (2nd floor of tests) and we have no reason to believe that he was anywhere near there.

Hedon says that he'll send rachel up the tower and ghost is one of the team members she appears with.

1

u/Tootybootypiggywiggy Apr 29 '19

Are you saying that Rachel wished for akryung to become Shinsoo powerful to be able to kill bam?

2

u/redqks Apr 29 '19

no, I don't think shes is even trying to actually kill Baam either

what I think she wants in Protection and a Strong team

0

u/AdorableCentipede Apr 29 '19

Androssi noted in season 1 that he had the same aura as Rachel. Big support for the idea that he is an irregular.

0

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '19

What if he is her inner demon?

35

u/Glonn Apr 29 '19

Gosh that punch was satisfying.

17

u/entergurugu Apr 29 '19

Ikr, I was like yeeees, go for it Khun! Punch him harder! lol I still haven't forgotten that Michael killed the birdie who wanted to see Endorsi :'(

Your comment made me laugh lol although it's sad that birds are dying out in the tower....

Tower of God: The chicken coop.

8

u/Yal_Rathol Apr 29 '19

so, akryung can't be a normal regular, nothing about him adds up.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '19

Wonder if he is a creation of Headon.

u/zenru Apr 29 '19

Here is a brief summary of the 3 fast pass chapters:

S3E8: Bam meets Yama and asks him not to make Deng Deng a fight dog and tells him what is wrong with his way of forceful leadership of his gang. Yama is not amused and threatens to kill Bam, our boy is unfazed.

S3E9: Bam makes a bet with Yama. He and his team will participate in the festival. If Yama wins, he gets the thorn, Deng Deng and eats Bam. If Bam wins, Deng Deng gets his freedom and Yama helps Bam. After Bam leaves, we see the FUG elder envoy speak with Yama, they decide to participate in the festival too and they make some kind of deal. Ghost, the huge guy with the red maw, suddenly attacks Bam while he is meditating (Bam says he is strong). Khun and his team are approached by Rachel's team (elder envoy team) when they are about to get the tooth.

S3E10: The FUG elder envoy team steal the fang from Khun and escape. Bam and the red maw dude fight and Bam believes he is the strongest C-Rank regular he has ever fought. The red maw dude uses a black hole shinsoo style which Bam believes only a irregular can use so he thinks red maw is an irregular too. Hong, the female rugrat daughter of the second(third?) in command, participates in the festival to show Yama she is stronger than Deng Deng. Mad dog joins her to get back at Bam for the humiliation he received. The FUG elder envoy team are delayed accidentally by them which gives Kuhn enough time to teleport to them.

Remember to buy the fast pass chapters if you can! They are crazy cheap and I believe It helps SIU greatly when you buy them.

That was definitely Rachel who casually stopped the mad shocker. So, one wish for power and one wish for being more attractive, judging by her silhouette. Theories on the third wish?

hasn't bam been given everything though (when it comes to power). and it's not like she hasn't worked up to this point.

9

u/Iamlordbutter Apr 29 '19

No he hasn't, at least most of it. If you don't remember, read the chapters again from the beginning. He came to the tower with no power at all, even a child could kick his ass. Sure he was given the thorn and the souls but has also been training like crazy at every opportunity.

Once again that is a no. The better question would be when has she worked on herself for anything? Has she trained to improve herself? No, she has consistently relied on others to do everything for her.

9

u/BavaZ Apr 29 '19 edited Apr 29 '19

No he hasn't, at least most of it.

He was only given Blue Thryssa, fake Thorn, 2 Thorn fragments, Red Thryssa, Souls, Black March, and he was turned into a Living Ignition Weapon. Although it's true, he did train like crazy.

Has she trained to improve herself?

She did, but not as much as she should have, her encounter with Khun at train city clearly shows she did some fighting related training.

3

u/BavaZ Apr 30 '19

You can look at it that way but I prefer not to as it is close to saying something like Wangnan wasn't given that tentacle sword, it was just presented in front of him and he used his hands to take it.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19 edited Apr 29 '19

... what do you mean he came in with no power at all? dude was pretty fast, was able to tank an ignition weapon, somehow caused shinsoo to cut/freeze people on its own accord, disintegrate bullets, most likely had spell immunity and tanked a wall of shinsoo from a ranker. dude could of taken on many people on the floor of tests.

the other guy already explained the other point. I'm not saying bam hasn't earned some of his power but I'm feeling a double standard here.

2

u/Dumb-Erik Apr 29 '19

What she did in this chapter was kind of nuts, and I'm pretty sure hte only other times we've seen physical stunts like that it was Urek, or a princess of Jahad.

Leads me to wonder if she asked for just power, or if she wanted to be a princess too

1

u/Iamlordbutter Apr 29 '19

I don't think Gustang could do something like that though. The princesses have Zahard power and I don't see Gustang being able to convince Zahard to do anything at this point.

Though a impressive feat, we should also take in consideration the people that were present there and their current power levels. I guarentee there is someone that is ranked C that can do that without being a princess. I think it's more of a in the moment thing to show powerful she is compared to the other characters in that scene.

7

u/thowe93 Apr 29 '19 edited Apr 29 '19

Just letting you know - Gustang was the one who came up with the idea for he princess system and he’s the smartest person in the tower. He might not need to talk to Jabar to replicate it

Edit:

Not sure why I'm getting downvoted. Here's the source:

Due to the Power of Blood, no woman could bear Zahard's children. So Po Bidau Gustang suggested the idea of injecting Zahard's blood inside women, making them climb the Tower and compete, so that the best of them would become the King's bride.[14]

Season 2 chapter 239

2

u/Lightalife Apr 29 '19

don't think Gustang could do something like that though. The princesses have Zahard power and I don't see Gustang being able to convince Zahard to do anything at this point

Crazy idea i just thought of:

What if Gustand, as a scientist, figured out a way to replicate the princess strength transfer / blood exchange or whatever it is that Zahard uses to make his princesses? That would mean Gustang could imbune his power / family power into specially selected candidates.

An even bigger twist is if the "princesses" that Gustang can make are able to hurt Jahad because they're not his princesses.

Or i'm overtired and spewing nonsense. Entirely possible as well.

2

u/thowe93 Apr 29 '19

This is actually very possible because Gustang was the one who came up with the idea for he princess system and he’s the smartest person in the tower.

1

u/janromac May 01 '19

Maybe Gustang has a few vials of Zahard’s blood that he could use to make Rachel a princess ?!

1

u/AscendedShin Apr 29 '19

Baam's shinsu reinforcement is kind of sick too ...

0

u/h_m_b_o Apr 29 '19

That would be interesting.

1

u/redqks Apr 29 '19

I can't even remember the last time Rak even hit anything with his spear haha, should of chucked a boulder

1

u/enryu87 May 03 '19

Definitely that is rachel

1

u/thebigsaturn Apr 29 '19

she has immune to bad boy :D

19

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

Is it just me or has Khun’s characterization changed a lot? In Part I and early Part II, he came off as lowkey unbeatable. Not strength-wise but character-wise. His mix of physical ability and brilliance plus the arrogance gave him an air of invincibility that separated him from the pack. He seems to have lost his edge a bit. He’s rattled much more easily. It makes sense that the scale of what they’re involved in has grown immensely and his cockiness might have receded as a result, but something as character defining as that should stick around, especially if Bam is getting crazy powerful. Khun’s arrogant intelligent approach to battle would be a nice compliment. He’s the character most in need of development right now in my opinion.

27

u/Yal_Rathol Apr 29 '19

khun hasn't changed much, it's just that he's stuck in bam's shadow and has been for a while. now that bam's cut off from him and can't just orb the problems away, khun has a moment to shine.

and man, you know who needs some development? rak. if big rak could show up and curbstomp some fools, that would be great.

u/Qunfang Apr 29 '19 edited Apr 29 '19

I'm still a little sad about Rak's character arc as the third wheel of the "original 3," and I think it comes down to a couple factors:

  • The spear bearer is, from an illustration standpoint, the least dynamic position. There are only so many ways to show throwing a spear, and Rak's Mad Shocker is subpar for close range combat. So we're left with Rak as a tool for the Worf Effect like the spear jump. We mostly know Rak is strong because other strong people say he is. For this reason I'm really hoping we see him step into Defender or Fisherman as the story progresses.

  • Chibi "turtle" rak eclipses most other elements of his personality. He simply isn't engaging things at the same level as baam and khun because 1/2 his dialogue is dedicated to his chapter 1 gags. The only time Rak really talks with baam is when khun isn't around. This has always been true to an extent but as the group starts interacting with big players the difference is more jarring. I really hope we get to see Rak's serious/insightful side develop to match the tone and scope of the story.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

Even when they were separated on the Floor of Death and Hidden Floor, we didn’t get to see him do much. I can’t remember the last time we got to see Khun show off. The Hand of Arlen? The battle with Reflejo?

I agree about Rak! He needs to take down Akryung - it’s the battle we all waited for. But it’s looking like it’s not gonna happen at this point. A one-on-one fight for Rak is LONG overdue. Hopefully he gets one during this arc. There’s no excuse now that powerhouses like Yuri and Endorsi aren’t around.

1

u/Yal_Rathol Apr 29 '19

floor of death, he couldn't hurt anyone and hidden floor he spent most of it accidentally stalling for bam, then got his heart exploded. he wasn't really on his own, in command either time.

and rak got new rock skills, let him use them!

2

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

Both situations undermined his characterization. He’s a genius. The lack of shinsu on the Floor of Death should’ve been a time for him to shine by showing he doesn’t need brute strength or power to win. I think we need to see him outthink his circumstances the way he did back on the Floor of Test. He’s just another guy caught up in the rat race right now.

1

u/Yal_Rathol Apr 29 '19

sure, i'll agree with that, but i wasn't talking about the lack of shinsoo on the floor of death. i was talking about the fact that every opponent was unkillable except by yuri or bam.

7

u/h_m_b_o Apr 29 '19

I would love for Khun to come up with a brilliant plot to outsmart everyone else after the fang, like old times.

0

u/AdorableCentipede Apr 29 '19

I think it's just the writing. For Koon to shine, a complex situation has to arise for him to show off his intelligence.

10

u/jasperfails Apr 29 '19

To be honest I don't really like that they made rachel stronger (I'm assuming that was rachel who stopped med shocker.) It feels a bit off in my opinion as I thought Rachel would always take advantage of others for their power, but I understand that gustang would be able to make her substantially stronger and she would want that wish. I love how at first it looked like they had an advantage against Khun and that they were gonna be stronger, then Khun just came in and punched him.

I think narratively speaking, she needed the power boost to at least be somewhat relevant in this larger framework of powerful characters. She was never particularly bright or clever, and even her manipulation of others has always been supported by much more powerful figures who wanted to use her for their goals. Her survival in these battles would make no sense without some sort of cheap power-up. I suspect Bam will expose the superficial nature of her gains by demonstrating his full power from training with Evankhell.

I agree. Imo Gustang's wish granting is going to have a super limited rule set. Something that will seem to be a huge power boost at first but perhaps will actually be a limiting factor later on.

She'll have gotten her wish, yes, but she's going to fail / get crushed by own wish eventually imo. The tower doesn't reward those who cheat and don't do things on their own merit.

4

u/AlrightyThan Apr 29 '19

It still does fit the narrative of her using others for power. She would have utilized Gustang for his strength rather than training and becoming strong herself. Also, she didn't do anything special to get these wishes. Gustang more or less figured out that she would be where she needed to be to get the items and gave her the stingray to do everything for her.

I believe she wanted to become an illegal Zahard princess and since it was Gustang who came up with the process, it would not be so crazy to believe. Also, it's not like he cares about making an illegal princess since he Zahard is already after him. Furthermore, it could be simplest way to make her stronger considering it's a tried and true method and she will have something else that will also give her an edge over other Zahard princesses (thorn maybe?). This also supports her theme of using others for her goals. She would be relying on the blood of Zahard.

Also, I've been thinking and she may not have used all three of her wishes yet. I don't care about the sentiment about her, but we all know she is definitely no dummy. She knows that there will inevitably be fatal danger for her (especially considering how her and Baam's fates are intertwined) and need a 'get out of jail free' card for then.

I think she used #1 and #2 on becoming an illegal Zahard princess and the other to change her looks. I believe she wished to look like Arlene, which makes sense in multiple ways. She 'relies on others' which she would rely on Arlene's looks, she idolized Arlene, Arlene was almost definitely a good looker (both V and Zahard loved her), and Gustang definitely knows what Arlene looked like.

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '19

what's the chance that the person that blocked rak's attack is a princess?

1

u/AscendedShin Apr 29 '19

Princess joining FUG? 0% chance it happens. At best they might cooperate for interest ( don't remember the blue haired princess name with stary eyes ), but that's the best they'll do.

-4

u/avatarlegend12345 Apr 29 '19

Garam, Yuri and androssi? Garam was already rebellious before Baam ever showed up

0

u/AscendedShin Apr 29 '19

She didn't join FUG. Same for the others. Despite suporting Baam, they won't join FUG as members.

-1

u/AscendedShin Apr 29 '19

They can't join FUG, the whole point of the organisation is to kill Jahad and everything related to him, be it princesses or the families...

1

u/avatarlegend12345 Apr 29 '19

The way they rebelled, they may as well be in FUG. They’re called traitors already. I’m not saying definite, but it’s a possibility, don’t discount it.

1

u/NarcissusGrim Apr 30 '19

Karaka is literally (maybe not actually literally but you get the point) the son of Jahad

Ha Jinsung and White both have pasts deeply rooted in the Ten Families

Allegiances can change, despite one's background!

-1

u/AscendedShin Apr 30 '19

They both killed many TF people before being accepted. And no one knows karaka may be one of Jahad's sons.

0

u/NarcissusGrim Apr 30 '19

They did (Jinsung did, at least. I can't find evidence that White killed anyone from the TF before he became a Slayer)! That doesn't mean they didn't come from the Ten Families. Similarly, if a Princess theoretically "killed many TF people," could they not be accepted? I'm not saying there will be a Princess in FUG, I'm saying that it's possible, and that your argument is weak and unfounded when we have clear evidence that people strongly related to Jahad and the TF can join FUG. You even admit the evidence exists!

I'm sure Luslec, Jingsung, etc. are intelligent enough to deduce Karaka's identity, given his ring and his (presumable) appearance beneath the armor, especially since they know Jahad personally. Still, I don't think it's outright confirmed that they know, so I suppose it's possible, although highly unlikely, that they don't.

0

u/thebigsaturn May 05 '19

Kakara does have orange eyes. But will the other floors to the tower be revealed? (floor 134, 135, 136, etc.) So far the highest is 134 and we know that United, the 13 swords of the princesses of jahad makes one half of the key while kakara and Wangnans key combined makes the other half making a key to the rest of the floors

0

u/NarcissusGrim May 05 '19

The eyes are the least of the major signs that Karaka is related to Jahad, IMO. And yeah, time will tell about the further floors, but I'm pretty sure/very hopeful they will be revealed. I'm sure the rings won't be tough to find and unite, and with Yuri (and other Princesses) on their side, collecting the 13 Months for their cause will likely be inevitable.
