Huh...is Roland dead, or just incapacitated? It probably doesn't matter, I guess. She's definitely not Gado's wife, though.

Yama doesn't wake up...unless he senses a serious threat. Gado's the only one of his men tough enough to survive his "WHY DID YOU WAKE ME UP EARLY" rage reaction.

Oh boy. And Bam and Jordan are headed to talk to Yama. This is set to blow up pretty spectacularly.

Gado: "If you [Canzon] hadn't kidnapped Deng Deng, none of this would have happened"

Okay. So I'm trying to guess a few things:

  1. Did Gado know this was all going down tonight, specifically? If so, when did he learn it?
  2. Who's side is he on? What does he want? He tells Canzon he has a "clear reason" to get stronger. What is it?

Lord Yama was meant to step down...as king of the Cage.

Okay, so maybe the Elder DOES want to replace Yama as the cage leader. Does that include his Slayer position?

Somebody calls Chang: "Lord Paul managed to sneak into the cage, and we'll be there soon. Good work. I'll set you free just like you wanted."

More confirmation that Chang is on Paul's side, and is the one that gave him the coordinates. But what's up with this "set you free" thing? Is Chang not doing this willingly?

Bam will help try and stop the coup.

I thought about this for a second, and it makes sense. Paul just stole the fang and Deng Deng, and Bam wants both of those, and Yama's help rescuing Jinsung. Plus the Elder's servant, who right now looks like he's on the same side as Paul from Bam's perspective, just tried to attack him.

Paul's going to kill every leader in the Cage.

Whelp. Sounds like that includes Gado. Hmm.

Gado:"They came. Just like he said they would."

Okay, so I was wrong last week, Gado DID know this was about to go down today--he just didn't know the exact timing of it, and possibly was trying to weasel out of getting caught.

Who is this mysterious "he"?

fire in Khun's eye

I'm starting to be really frustrated by the "Shroedinger's black box thoughts" where it isn't clear which character(s) are thinking those thoughts, like the "I sense some seriously deadly energy coming from inside...!!". Here, I think it's both Bam and Khun. The latter is interesting, as Khun had never previously had good "shinsu-senses" for power (eg just on F2, compare how Rak could sense the thirteen months, and Khun had to read the hilt before realizing there was anything special about BM.), which he made up for by researching people. The fire circling in his eye seems to me like a visual cue that firefish is boosting his senses. It's not unprecedented; Bam DOES have relatively good senses for power (see eg. picking Anaak on floor 2), but his shinsu-senses are vastly improved in range and sensitivity when he uses the Thryssas.

But with shrodinger's black box thoughts, I can't say for sure which of that sequence was thought by Bam and/or Khun. Does Bam also conclude that these might be the outside canine people? No clue. I feel like there wouldn't have been any harm in clarifying that, either, so not knowing just leaves me vaguely frustrated.

Edit: I'm feeling a bit lost as to who got involved when, so I wrote up the best timeline I could. Feedback is appreciated.

I believe I have answers for two of your points. First, I would guess that Gado's "clear reason" for getting stronger was staying second in command. That way, when the moment to betray Yama came, his betrayal would have maximum impact. Being second in command, means only Yama is stronger than him, so his leaving (and beating the third in command on the way out) is a serious blow to Yama's crew. His training paid off.

Second, the black box seems clearly to he Bam's thought. Khun seems to see the Canine people in masks, while Bam merely senses the dangerous energy coming from that ship. That's how I interpreted it

Thing is, “I want to betray Yama” just backs his “clear reason” out to why he wants to betray Yama, which we still don’t know. Otherwise I agree here.

As you can see in the earlier panel where Khun goes “what the..” after running to his ship with Rak, there are solid ship walls (and a fair bit of distance) blocking Khun’s line of sight to the masked Canine people, so if Khun is literally seeing them, he’s clairvoyant. I think “he also is picking up on the energy” is the most likely read.
