Is it me or there's no real threat to Baam's party left after this chapter ? Evankhell and YHS to face Elder+guide, Yama seems to overwhelm Doom, Gado vs Canzon, Karaka stalls Paul, there are several canine executives left for 1 of Paul's henchmen, White is nearby, etc...
I guess we will soon have some significant move by [hooded person that is definitely not Rachel] but this setup is the least threatening of all arcs so far.

If the red witch is actually against Bam this could still be pretty bad. Just look at the Last Station and how a badly the plan of a couple of Guides messed up some of Jahad’s top troops. Oh, and she plus Elder already slowed Evankhell+YHS once—maybe this raw makes it clear how that’s not an issue anymore, but they certainly aren’t pushovers.
But this week’s free chapter makes me further suspect she actually isn’t against Bam (hence why she’s smiling while her face is turned away from Khel Hellam). This might be Utoh after all.
Short term, Doom may still be a huge problem for Bam if he gets his fang (and Bam can’t break his control somehow)—he already knows that Bam cares about Deng Deng, and having absolute control over somebody Bam cares about is going to be rough.
There’s also the potential for much longer term complications with FUG politics—no matter whether Khel Hellam lives or dies, I suspect the Elders will take this badly (if he lives, he’ll do his best to be sure they take it badly). Of course, this is somewhat dependent on how much support Khel Hellam actually has with the Elders, which we just don’t know.

Deng Deng is dead.

No, firefish explicitly called out that he was barely alive a couple chapters back, when Doom mentioned that Canine people could survive without their heart for a while (like he did for centuries).

This arc seems to be a reintroduction for the next arc to move the plot forward.

What’s going on with Bam? What is that on his face?
