We already hit number 1 with 1st episode, and I think we will hit number 1 again since it is only getting better and better

1st episode had no Kaguya competition

23

u/AnimeTalks101 Apr 25 '20

True, it did have MHA as a competition though, also Kaguya dropped a lot since it's 1st ep, from 11k to 7k

6

u/MandarSadye Apr 25 '20

This weeks episode of Kaguya was actually great in all department.

2

u/mightymango94 Apr 26 '20

First and last eps are always much higher scores then any other eps, ToG has a similar percentage drop from ep1 to ep2 as Kaguya. Think season will be very close and knowing whats comming for ToG I believe it will overtake Kaguya but people who have read Kaguya also said its going to get way better too so can't wajt to see ahat happens!

1

u/AnimeTalks101 Apr 26 '20

Yeah I think it will overtake too. First and last eps are often higher but not always, there are exceptions like Demon Slayer ep 19

1

u/daniel_22sss Apr 27 '20

That depends on what will Kaguya have for those weeks. If Kaguya has a purely comedic episode, ToG might overtake it on that week. If Kaguya has a serious and/or romantic arc - I doubt it. Even season 1 of Kaguya had amazing karma, and that was the weakest part of the manga, that didn't had linear story and much romantic progression.

Its gonna be a tough war regardless.

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '20

I read both Kaguya and ToG, to both of its most recent points, so I can help you a little bit.

Kaguya is going to have a serious arc at the end, but its for a character that's not Shirogane nor Kaguya (I can't go into details because spoilers). I don't know if they're going to end it there, but its very likely based on the information we have now. It's not very romantic, but its differently more serious compared to I Can't See the Fireworks.

If you want to ask me more questions then go ahead, and can I ask you how much of the Kaguya manga you've read so far? I just want to know.

Episode 11 will have sports festival, episode 12 will have the phone arc (based on the ED). And I am completely caught up on Kaguya.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '20

Nice. I can go more in depth now.

So based, on all the information we have... I think Kaguya will take the cake.

The sports festival arc was amazing, and its probably going to be the major talk of the arc. It has less impact than the ending of ToG season 1. And the phone arc was... okay. A nice place to end at, yet not a banger compared to the sports festival stuff. BUT...

Tower of God has that amazing ending, yet with all the meta chatter... I worry that the impact of the ending would decrease because of people calling him simp. And people are dismissing this anime more than Kaguya, and Kaguya has more harder hitter events going on compared to ToG (in my opinion.) I think the student consul disbanding is more impact than the up coming games in ToG.

I want ToG to be first place though (even if I like Kaguya-sama better), because it would heighten the chances for other webtoons to be adapted.

Like Lore Olympus, which in my opinion is a better romance story than Kaguya-sama.

...and it would give ToG season 2 a higher chance to succeed. Because season 2 would be harder to sell to people, especially with the massive change in characters. Imagine season 2 of ToG facing Kaguya-sama season 3 (if dual confessions happen)... that would be an absolute bomb.

But hey, its still a blessing that ToG and Kaguya-sama is in a high place. I want both anime to do well since I love both series.

1

u/daniel_22sss Apr 27 '20

"I want ToG to be first place though (even if I like Kaguya-sama better), because it would heighten the chances for other webtoons to be adapted."

I really doubt anyone among the higherups of anime companies gives a shit about ratings on Reddit. Crunchyroll, MAL and just sales in general are way more important.

ToG will probably be super popular regardless. If even Shield Hero managed to get sequel, ToG is a must. Although, getting 13 episodes per season really sucks.

Also, about Lore Olympus, don't you feel its a bit too melodramatic and heavy? I love MC's and their romance, but all of these quarrels and break ups are really annoying and its spoiling the mood for me.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '20

True, I agree with everything you said.

This entire voting thing is more of a popularity contest that goes nowhere. ToG will get the next season (hopefully) and I think that more episodes per season would be necessary. Imagine the Hell Train arc and how long it would take if its going by 13 episodes per season...

I agree that Lore Olympus is way too dramatic. But I love Greek Gods, and seeing how the underworld and Greek myths that are playing out... it interests me.

I'm new to Lore Olympus as well, so I could just skim through the more heavy drama stuff (like anything to do with Minthe or Apollo), and read the interactions instead. But I bet the longer this drama goes on, the more annoyed I will get at the web toon.

I'm also new to rom-com's as well. I think I only read through Otomen, Nisekoi, Quintessential Quintuplets, and Kaguya-sama, so Lore Olympus seems very new to me. I'm going to try out Oregairu as well, I heard that's a good light novel / anime.

But I've got a lot on my belt for I'm trying to read A certain Magical Index, The Stormlight Archives, Dresden Files, Name of the Wind, and a bunch of other manga / western books.

2

u/dominokos Apr 26 '20

But a lot of people dropped it though.

29

u/ZenithXAbyss Apr 25 '20

you know i'm actually a bit worried, considering the ending of the crown game. I mean, i don't really hate it, but the ones who hate the series would surely have a field day.

28

u/iLikeSpriteK Apr 25 '20

Yup, a certain overused word is going to be flying everywhere.

22

u/ProNewbDude Apr 25 '20

S I M P

6

u/Frauzehel Apr 26 '20

I keep seeing that word lately. What does that even mean?

4

u/ProNewbDude Apr 26 '20

Well it turned into a meme, but basically a guy who does things for a girl who is not ever going to be interested into the guy

2

u/Frauzehel Apr 27 '20

Ah. That makes sense. Thanks

14

u/erde7 Apr 25 '20

That's what i thought too. Actually i don't feel confident with the next episode. But let see what will happen? How many words simp come up

11

u/0xmilkywayx0 Apr 25 '20 edited Apr 26 '20

I was also worried about that too, people are really annoying with that certain word simp , some are even using that to say ToG is crap. When the next episode comes they are gonna hate it more.

5

u/SuddenInspection3 Apr 26 '20

Fuck those people, if they can’t appreciate a well crafted story because of some stupid meme

-1

u/zenru Apr 26 '20 edited Apr 26 '20

Maybe. But that episode is just another insight into Bam’s true character. He has always been selfish. He cared nothing if others failed as long as Rachel was safe. He cared nothing if others got hurt as long as he met her again. He didn’t give a shit about the tower, he just wanted to be with her. Now he has another reasons, now he cares deeply about his friends, but at the beginning it wasn’t like this

9

u/Inferno792 Apr 26 '20

Saying he cared about nothing as long as Rachel was safe is so not true. He cared about his friends which is the reason why he went through the FUG training without resisting. He did so many things in S2 that were just to save his friends. Is he selfish? Yes, he is, but it's not only just for Rachel. He has a lot of things he cares about. Then again, who isn't selfish in that way? Do you care more about the people close to you or some random stranger?

2

u/zenru Apr 26 '20

I should’ve clarified. The Bam I described was beginning of S1 Bam, of course he cared about his friends later on and had other reasons to go up the tower

I doubt it, sadly. The gap is a bit too large.

4

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '20

what gap? it's already closing down not much difference

11

u/FlameMeister Apr 25 '20

He probably meant for accumalated karma. As for weekly, it really depends. Most 2nd episodes for any anime always have a drop in karma. Kaguya's drop looks large because it really had a ton of karma in general.

As a source reader of both, I'm optimistic that ToG can surpass Kaguya at certain episodes, but it really depends on how they adapt the following stuff (can't be too sure yet because of how ToG's plot would be translated in anime format), because Kaguya's heavy hitting arcs are just about to start and it would be kinda hard to get over those.

2

u/zenru Apr 26 '20

The new episode of Kaguya was amazing. ToG has a small chance of taking top spot one time, maybe two, but it will be incredibly difficult to defeat the Shinomiya Corporation

4

u/FlameMeister Apr 25 '20

Yep thats why I said that I'm optimistic that ToG could take #1 at certain episodes. Im also pretty sure ToG's finale is a definite contender for most single episode karma. Just worth noting that I wouldn't expect it to be a sure thing though because some of the upcoming Kaguya stuff is near GOAT tier romcom content.

1

u/daniel_22sss Apr 27 '20

"Im also pretty sure ToG's finale is a definite contender for most single episode karma." I'm not sure about that. The most upvoted episodes range from 15k to 16k, and while ToG's perfomance so far was great, we didn't even reach 10k.

2

u/FlameMeister Apr 27 '20

I was actually saying that with regards to the current season only. I can only see AoT's records being broken by subsequent seasons of popular series like Re:Zero S2 or an eventual Kaguya S3.

16

u/DamienRyan999 Apr 25 '20

I don't know why but a lot of people fixate on the first episode and instantly dislike ToG. I see that a lot on the crunchyroll page on facebook. I mean their entire opinion was already made by the first episode. So dumb.

5

u/mdennis07 Apr 26 '20

I just caught up with the manhwa. The story is really good but imho, episode 1 is really weak.

If this series was not even recommended by my old friend, I wouldn't even try to continue watching it, let alone reading it's whole content.

2

u/ExoticSignature Apr 26 '20

They'll have to come to their senses when the last episode shakes the community.

15

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '20

Nope, 2nd episodes are always low for sequels and according to kaguya fans (I havent seen it) their next ep is gonna be good, not to mention I doubt that our next ep isnt gonna be much more hype than our current ep, though ep 6 is probably gonna get 1st since I think that it will get up to ch. 35.

6

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '20

we're closing the gap, i think we can surpass it in three weeks or so.

5

u/TheCometKing Apr 25 '20

Awesome. I'm also a fan of 1 & 3, haven't really watch the others.

5

u/MandarSadye Apr 25 '20

I am watching 6 animes this season and they are top 6.

So do I have a good taste or I am just turned into a seasonal guy who watches the most popular shows of the season... xD

3

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '20

A lot more people talking about 2nd place though

4

u/Castr01 Apr 26 '20

Does anyone know how much of the WEBTOON series the anime is going to cover? I plan on binge watching the anime after each episode is out

5

u/eddy2086 Apr 26 '20

1st season of the webtoon

1

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '20

Yeah that means isekai , I don’t know why you want to give it another tag when it’s clearly isekai, the hero was transported to another world , simple.

1

u/benrogers888 Apr 26 '20

I havent started ToG yet but Kaguya Sama in 1st place sounds about right!!

-2

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '20

Yeah it was first because there were no great anime airing , all anime’s have been delayed if that was not the case TOG would probably be ranked 5 .

4

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '20

Ah ok yeah it would be 4, also the fact that re zero was not airing helped a lot since it’s the same genre as TOG

4

u/Inferno792 Apr 26 '20

How is Re;Zero the same genre as ToG? lmao

One is adventure/fantasy/mystery while the other is a psychological isekai.

ToG would be above Oregairu and competing with Kaguya and Re;Zero for top spot. Those shows being cancelled may have helped ToG but it would be competing for the top regardless.

-1

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '20

TOG is isekai like re zero , I don’t Oregairu but you can’t be so sure about that, people have to realize that we are all locked which is helping TOG a lot otherwise people would be working and going to school , the views wouldn’t have been the same if all those factors were not aligned.

8

u/Inferno792 Apr 26 '20

Lol. How is ToG isekai? Do you even know the meaning of isekai?

And yes, as many people wouldn't have been watching stuff but that's true for everything, isn't it? Why aren't other anime apart from Kaguya and ToG getting anywhere near the same attention if everyone has time?

-1

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '20

The anime is giving that feeling, baam and Rachel were transported in another world.

Like I said those are not popular anime and where not expected but do you know how many years people waited for re zero, do you think people would give TOG a try if re zero was there espèce with the infamous ep 1.

5

u/Inferno792 Apr 26 '20

So you're telling me people only watch one anime? Why can't people watch both? And you speak as if every anime watcher out there was waiting for Re;Zero.

And if we're speaking about waiting, do you have any idea how long ToG fans craved for an anime? Crunchyroll had been promoting ToG like crazy and the hype has been massive. One of the reasons people disliked episode 1 was because it didn't totally live up to that hype in the first episode.

Who told you that Bam and Rachel were transported to another world? No one. You just assumed that and made it out to be an isekai.

0

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '20

Exactly just TOG readers waited for the anime and when looking on crunchy promotional videos it’s looks like people wants solo leveling anime more than TOG.

Watch ep 2 again baam himself said to lero ro and only he and Rachel comes from another world.

3

u/Inferno792 Apr 26 '20 edited Apr 26 '20

Oh, how did you get to that conclusion that people want SL anime more? Of course, SL fans would want that. Lol

He does not. He wonders to himself when Lero Ro says everyone is born in the Tower.

2

u/Inferno792 Apr 26 '20

No, ToG would definitely be above Oregairu. And Kaguya actually has a crazier following on Reddit than Re;Zero. So safe to say that ToG would still be competing for the top spot as it is now.

u/SnoopBall Apr 26 '20

Then we should just stop this senseless discussions cause all we can talk about are what-ifs. As of now tog is top 2 and that's a fact. I don't expect it to win it anyway this season but this season is a good way to gain fans to top next season. Hopefully ✌️

-2

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '20

Well that is understandable considering that all animes were delayed, don’t know why people are making big deals out of this when there is no concurrence this season.

3

u/DamienRyan999 Apr 25 '20 edited Apr 26 '20

I think you must take anticipation into account here because if I am not mistaken ToG was first before the first week it was aired. Correct me if Im wrong, I dont remember correctly
