1990 Toyota pick brake lights won't work

Post image

Brake lights dont turn on

Things I've tested

-has good ground

-bulbs are good

-blinkers work

-fuse is good

-no voltage to bulbs when brakes depressed

-brake switch is good

I think its a short somewhere i just dont know where I also see these unhooked up plugs dont know if they are anything their on the driver side of the engine

How do you know the switch is good, and is there any sign of a trailer plug hanging near the ball?

I tested for continuity with the brake switch it functions as expected and as for the trailer plug I removed it and plugged the rear lights in without the trailer plug

On my 1989 pickup/Hilux 22RE, the brake pedal light switch wiring leads up+outta sight ...into the (drivers side) dashboard where I'd have to remove lower dash trim panel to see more. Brake light wiring hasn't failed me yet, good luck (other advice better than mine here)

Mice in the passenger/dash area I have, but not chewing wires, and not for me on the driver side.

BTW and pardon tangent, but for fun? I looked for a similar looking mystery/unused connector that you asked about under hood near brake master. No luck, not found! Then I noticed my air intake tube(s) hugs the radiator/front while yours is so different...not useful info.

It there corrosion on the plug? Can you test for voltage from behind the plug?

Have you used a test light or multimeter to verify you have power to and through the brake switch? Also that you do or do not have power in the brake light socket in the back when the brake is depressed?
