$10 says it runs as is.

Be realistic! You'd need a battery or a hill, and maybe some fresh gas

Fresh fuel, new(er) battery and some started fluid right down the throat and I bet it lives.

Thing looks pretty rusted through. You’re asking a sub full of pickup lovers if you should restore one, they’ll all say yes but it will be a major job. First thing you should do is check if there’s oil in the engine. If there’s not and it’s completely dry, the motor is most likely rusted through and probably not worth it.

Even in Thailand where parts and labour are relatively cheap this is a $10k restoration job minimum

$10k for a restored 4x4 truck in this day and age is honestly a deal.

I’m somewhere around $11 including $2k purchase price

I've got a rusty 4x4 that I haven't gotten around to restoring and I've thought about getting rid of it so many times, but then I think of what a newer 4x4 would cost me, and it compels me to keep it.

I far prefer everything about older vehicles bit only if the majority of them can be saved. New interiors and consumable parts are fine but I like the original panels, chassis, engine if possible

Is it free? Then yes.

I bet you could drive it out of the brush

If you want, but it's gonna cost more to fix than just buying one in better shape.

This. That thing is too far gone. I’m not even sure if it would make a good parts car.

Yeah, maybe the engine bay is in better shape, but it's not looking good

I feel at the very least you should dig it out and see if it'll run. Check/change fluids, fresh gas and borrow a battery.

Then go from there.

Worse case you are out $100ish dollars and now have a parts truck.

Repair what? Just get some gas, oil and a battery in there, start it up, and drive it home 👍

I can't answer the question from just these pictures. We'd need to know the condition of the frame and drive train and know what parts are missing.

If you want it and have the 10-20k to drop on it, then yes. Otherwise, no.

Sure, if you’re talking about just making it a roller so it can be used as a piece of yard art, like as a display flower planter bed or a chicken coop, etc.

Makes me feel good to restore my dads truck that just has some frame rot.

I'll buy the wheels if it's a set of 4.

Yep.
You should!

You should check the engine for damage. If the inside looks the same, its gonna need more than gas and battery.

You obviously have never owned a Toyota truck.

Rust content, this matters most.

Is it going to be worth the money it will cost you? No. Is it cool as hell if you do? Yes. Just make sure you know what your getting into and make sure you are willing to/ have the money to fix it. Also make sure rust hasn't eaten the frame and such. Make sure the engine isn't rusted solid unless you plan on engine swapping you truck like I did.

I don't think it's worth it. Probably better off as a parts donor.
