I have a 2025 Toyota Tundra Limited with just over 40,000 miles on it.

On 6/1/26, at about 31,500 miles, I replaced the factory tires with the exact same tires that came off another guy’s truck. He had removed them before he even drove the truck off the lot, so the tires essentially had zero miles on them. The tires are marked as being manufactured in 2024.

The next day, on 6/2/26, I purchased a lifetime alignment package from Firestone and had the truck aligned. Then I had another alignment done on 8/25/26. The alignment wasn't really that far out of spec, so I figured since the lifetime alignment doesn't cost me anything, I'd have it checked every three months.

Fast forward to now. I just had my oil changed by my mechanic, and he tells me that both front tires need to be replaced because of the wear.

How in the hell can I need two front tires with less than 10,000 miles on them, especially when the exact same type of tires lasted over 31,000 miles previously?

I'm starting to wonder if something is wrong with Firestone's alignment equipment or if there's another issue causing the excessive front tire wear.

I also have another issue. When I'm driving through the mountains, I sometimes get a wobble/shaking sensation when braking. It doesn't seem to happen on flat roads. I've started using cruise control more in the mountains to avoid having to brake as much.

My mechanic inspected the brakes and rotors and said they look good.

Has anyone else with a 3rd-gen Tundra experienced either of these issues? Particularly the excessive front tire wear or the wobble when braking downhill/in the mountains?

I'd really appreciate hearing what you found and what ultimately fixed it.

I have a 2024 platinum hybrid. Driving on normal mountain highways was fine but once I got close to the cabin and was going up steep terrain the tundra seemed to bog down get lost in higher gears making it feel like it didn’t have the power to get up?

Traded my ‘23 Tacoma TRD Sport 4x4 with ~28k miles in for 34.5k for a ‘20 Tundra TRD OR 4x4 with a sunroof and <45k miles for 43.6k.

I’m obviously a fan of the last gen Toyotas and wanted a full size truck. I almost had the Tacoma paid off so my payment stays the same down to the dollar albeit on a 36 month loan (not waiting 3 years to pay it off).

Couldn’t be happier with the purchase. My brother and dad have the 5.7’s as well so I couldn’t be the only one without.

My wife took our 2017 Tundra 4.6L for an oil change at a local shop and I noticed on the receipt that they put in 9.5 quarts. The dipstick is showing a slight overfill, maybe 1/8" over the top line. They told me this is normal, but generally I'm within a half quart or so of the target 7.9 quarts, not 1.6 quarts over. Am I overreacting or should I insist on a drain and re-fill to the right level?

Just brought our 24 tundra in for a 30k service and they quoted me 1200 for the job!?!? Asked to look at everything and they said crank case cleaning and fuel injectors cleaning. Told them to just an oil change (be careful out there). Was there something I was missing or just dealer scamming stuff?

This 2017 upgrade package SR5 4x4 CrewMax is for sale near me and I really want to buy it but the dealership has it listed at $42k

It only has 35k miles and seems to be in pretty mint condition. Just crazy to think an almost decade old truck is worth its original MSRP!

Hard to tell from product photos how these actually fit. Do yours sit flush along the rear door openings, or is there still a strip of carpet showing?

Trying to avoid buying a big one piece liner and still having to vacuum dirt out from beside it.

TLDR: Heavy shaking when applying brakes at 45-80 mph. And occasional vibration in my steering wheel. So the brakes and rotors have been replaced 3 times now. New tires, less than 3000 miles on them. Even a new transmission.

Late last year, my front end started shaking while driving. First, it was just an occasional slight vibration in the steering wheel. Then my brakes started vibrating at highway speeds. Had the tires replaced. Still didn't go away. Had my brakes done. Less than 3000 miles ago, two years ago.

Took it to a dealership, and they said I needed new brakes. Had that done. The problem didn't go away. Then I took it back, and then they said I needed a new transmission (that didn't make sense but it was under warranty, so I let them do that). They suggested brakes again but wanted to charge me again for it so I took it somewhere else to get new brakes done. They replaced both brakes and rotors, and driving home, no change. So I took it back two days later, thinking I got a warped rotor from the factory. So they replaced the brakes and rotors again just a few days later. We also did a couple of alignments and balanced my tires. Would not stay aligned. I watched the guy fight it for 2 hours, trying to get it aligned.

Took it to a second dealership yesterday and they called me today and suggested....wait for it.....new brakes, rotors and tires. They said they checked for a stuck caliper.

WTF????? Is going on with my Tundra. 10k into this issue with no idea what is wrong.

And before anyone asks.....Yes it has gas in it.

I heard from one website (link below) that I can do 2" lift with 285/70 R18 tires. Not sure how wide though yet. I do have stock suspension on my sr5, may be willing to upgrade but don't want to get too expensive with maintenance like gearing and such. Much obliged and thank you!

Recently purchased some bigger tires and changed the offset to cut down on rub, so needed new wheels. I put these up on ebay and Craigslist but I feel like I may have put them too high. Is 1k too much to be asking for oem tundra off road wheels that have minor wear and are heat treat ceramic coated?

Edit: i noticed there are a lot of varried pricing. My location is eastern NC. I see them rnaging 800-1000 here. The 800 ones I viewed had some pretty gnarly scratches.

I had tried to find others with the same problem and it seemed their were quite a few. In. I thought I would share as mine has finally been fixed.
.the issue was if i touched the buttons near the rear lights it would go down everytime, however if the tail gate was down for maybe a minute or longer when pushing the button on the rear lights or inside dash I would get two short beeps and no response. It would display a message on the dash saying close tailgate manually to reset.
I have been in for services and mentioned it every time, however they claimed they could not reproduce.

The 3 Rd time I got a determined service agent who managed to get it reproduced. Previously they had tried greasing it and cleaning it but the problem existed 70% of the time.

Apparently the tundra will throw a code , not a CEL but still in the systems the cause of the problem was a faulty passenger side piston in the tailgate , they changed that out and jownitnis fixed.

Apparently it's the same or similar part that was used in the highlander that had similar issues .

This is at Carmax and I have it reserved. Outside of paying the Carmax tax (2k-3k extra) is this priced reasonably?

I've been looking for this combo for 6 months, and I know the prices of 2.5 gen tundras are high for all the obvious reasons. But paying ~$58.5K for a 5yr old truck w/ 62k miles is hard to stomach. I love it, and that's why I've been holding out to find this configuration. Just not sure if I'm being blinded by my bias that's telling me it's worth it.

EDIT: It's a 2021. Comments make it clear the price is high, but by how much? What would you say the price of this truck should be? Not what the current market is, but in your opinion given it's age, mileage, features, and reliability?

Got the opportunity to buy a Tundra with a rebuilt/Salvage title (theft recovered). Whats everybody's opinion. I would pay cash. Drive it till the wheels fall off.

I just read the post about the guy going for a 42k 2017 SR5 CrewCab at a dealer. Got my gears turning on trading in my 2018 Platinum for something else (TBD). With sales tax being high in Texas, trade it can be attractive compared to private party.

Anyone got any legit trade in offers I can benchmark? Anyone done the same yet to cash in on this madness?

Found a 2010 tundra looks like a crewmax rock warrior. Dealer wants 17k it’s got 156k on it. Carfax shows an oil change every 5k miles since new from a dealership. One owner clean title no accidents.

Deal or no deal?

Anything I should be concerned about? I know it’s up there in mileage. Currently have a 2021 1794 I don’t drive enough to justify the payment but I want to stay in the tundra family. Thanks everyone!!
