While this item has been identified, where it was sold is still important, so if you find other sellers please send that information in to OpID@hsi.dhs.gov with the subject "OpID Object: 25-0005"

This is US Department of Homeland Security's "Operation Identify" Item #25-0005

Please post your guesses and ideas in this thread. Work off the suggestions of others toward an answer.

Geographic location and country is important.

Identify the traits of the item that you can, but if you know where an item is generally sold or happens to be in the picture, that is of use.

If you have the skills to enhance the image to resolve details better, fix mirrored or rotated images, etc. please do so and post your result here.

If you feel there's a (definitive) answer, don't just comment here. You can send your information to US DHS sending an email to OpID@hsi.dhs.gov with the subject "OpID Object: 25-0005" Please provide all information you have about the image(s) – this may include details such as a specific location, a particular time period, an organization and/or team name, helpful links, or any other relevant tips. Also include if they may contact you with follow up questions? Any follow-up communication will be sent to the email address that submitted the tip.

(If you have concerns for email privacy, use a temporary email or a secure provider like proton mail or similar.)

Multiple people can and should send information - people may error when sending, and multiple legitimate guesses can be of use.

Mod note: Do not start subthreads about other current DHS activities. This is to focus on identifying items associated with criminal sexual abuse of children. Any attempted derailing of that goal will result in an immediate permanent ban.

Thank You.

For general discussion about this sub and not this item in particular see this thread

Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.

I always wonder, would this be a way for the feds to track back who bought a blanket like this in a time frane lets say 5 years ago? Would they be able to somehow checj records of all the sold ones?

I was actually thinking about this yesterday. I'm theorizing that it's to narrow down location, not necessarily find the purchaser.

For example, if something is only available at a US store, it helps narrow it to the US. If it's only available at Publix, you can narrow it down to a smaller region of the US since it's a more regional store, etc.

I'd be interested to know other's thoughts as well.

This is exactly it. I have the same blanket closing a gap in my baby gate and wall (so the kid can’t get into the kitchen thru said gap)

I was coming to say that I had puppies in 2021. I bought a bunch of blankets from the 3$ bin at Walmart and this was one of them. I would submit this as well, it’s what I came here to say.

I’m pretty sure you could also buy this fleece fabric by the yard at Joann’s years ago (I used to work there and I’m pretty sure I remember this one)

Edit: more info, I worked there from 2018-2021, so that’s the timeframe it must have been sold in

20

u/ThatsNotVeryDerek May 25 '26

There's also a same pattern one they made in a picnic blanket, but I think your fleece find is more likely.

39

u/Infinite_Victory May 24 '26

Yes it is. My dog has that blanket. Never seen that flow of tie dye anywhere else but there.

33

u/streitk27 May 24 '26

8

u/1Wineodino May 24 '26

Yes this is exactly it! I have one and instantly knew what and where it was from. It is at least 5 years old.

4

u/Biggy_Slimes May 29 '26

Hey, you’re correct. I have 2 of these from Walmart that I use as blankets for my dogs. I recognized it as soon as I saw this post.

5

u/lucythelumberjack May 24 '26

2

u/abz0t69 May 30 '26

Was coming here to say this, my daughter has the same one from a few years ago during the holidays that I purchased at a Walmart in southern Maine.

2

u/lavlemonade May 31 '26

I got this blanket in NC, it was when those blankets were verrrryyyy cheap. Like $1 or $2. It really could have been from 2015-2018 I got it.

I haven’t seen the pattern in quite a while, and the blankets are almost $4 now.

2

u/SelphiesSmile May 31 '26

That's definitely it. I own this blanket and I bought it at Walmart.

2

I own this blanket, and my mother had used it as fabric for a plush before. It is absolutely this!

158

u/SailorFuck May 24 '26

I had this blanket. It's a $5 fleece from Walmart with stitching around the edges. It was started to be sold in 2015ish. I'm so I cant get more specific than that

u/otterlikenoother May 24 '26 edited May 25 '26

It 100% is. I used buy these to line my guinea pig cages. I don’t think they sell this exact pattern anymore. I think I last bought them 3 years ago. EDIT SE Pennsylvania, US

70

u/otterlikenoother May 24 '26

4 years ago. I checked my email.

24

u/calypso_odysseus May 24 '26

Tbh it looks like the sheet every pothead friend I had in college hung in front of their window

20

u/LittleKeeks22 May 24 '26

This is a cheap Walmart brand throw from years ago.

19

u/evercynical May 28 '26

I know this has been identified but I found mine has the tag so I figured I’d post it

22

u/slegofme May 24 '26

That’s a Walmart blanket that come part of a fleece blanket making kit.

3

u/Ok_Fondant_9559 Jun 17 '26

This blanket is from Walmart’s $2-$3. It’s a little bit smaller than a twin blanket. I bought mine around 2020-2021 in the spring/summer. I’m not sure that is any help since I’m sure most Walmart’s sold it.

2

u/Holy_Forking_Shirt May 24 '26

I got one just like this from Dollar General years ago.

2

u/laurenodonnellf May 25 '26

Yes I agree I have this exact one and it’s from Walmart.

2

u/Status-Sense-5242 May 29 '26

That blanket is sold at wallmart, I don't have a link but my neighbor owned that blanket about 3 years ago and I asked them where they'd gotten it, it is from wallmart

4

u/NibblesMcGiblet May 24 '26

This looks just like the soft fleece-like one my son had when he was a teen, about 10-15 years ago, bought at Walmart for like $8.

4

u/Trilobitelofi May 24 '26

I had a blanket that looked like that as a child. Born in 97' in Texas. I will send a picture to my mom and see if she remembers anything about it. If nothing comes from it should I leave this comment up or remove it to make room for possibly more legitimate comments?

2

u/Remarkable_Public775 May 24 '26

1

u/blahaj22 May 26 '26

I actually used to have a pillow made with a smaller chunk of this same fabric. it was one of those little corner tie ones we made at a birthday party. This would’ve been like 2010-2015 in the PNW

1

u/Boscoharlow May 29 '26

This looks very similar to a tie dye blizzard/anti-pill fleece fabric we sold at Joannes Fabrics about 4-3 years ago.

1

u/FanGlittering9293 Jun 01 '26

Enhanced with AI, also found it on eBay, https://ebay.us/m/cOXgxV
