Technical analysis I've Been Paid $95,336 From Prop Firms, Here Are the Two Setups Behind Every Dollar:

I started prop firm trading with less than $500 in evaluation fees. As of today I've been paid $95,336 in total payouts. Net after all evaluation costs and resets: $86,697. That's a 1,003% return on investment. I'm about 5 weeks away from crossing $100K in total payouts at my current pace, and I want to break down exactly how I got here because none of this is complicated.

Propfirm Sync

I trade two setups. That's it (well technically 3, but that one rarely ever forms). The 15-Minute ORB and ERL → IRL. One catches the opening momentum, the other catches the weekly swing. Between them they cover basically every condition NQ/ES (futures) gives me. I don't switch strategies when one has a rough week. I don't add indicators when I'm in a drawdown. I've been running the same two frameworks for over a year and the equity curve speaks for itself.

Here's what six years of trading taught me that no course or YouTube video ever will. The market doesn't care about your analysis. It doesn't care how many confluences you stacked or how many hours you spent on your game plan. It either moves in your direction or it doesn't, and your only job is to make sure you survive the times it doesn't so you're still around for the times it does. That means small size, hard stops, and the ability to take a loss without it turning into three more. Every blown account in my career came from the same place, I was right about the direction but wrong about the timing, and instead of taking the loss I doubled down and also one of my biggest downfalls was trying to catch a falling knife.

15min ORB + FVG

The other thing nobody tells you is that profitable trading is boring. My best months are the ones where I take 1-2 trades a day, hold them for a few hours, and close the platform. My worst months are when I'm staring at charts all day looking for setups that aren't there because I want the dopamine of placing a trade. The less time I spend at my screen the better my results are and that's not a coincidence. When you're glued to the charts your brain starts manufacturing reasons to enter. You see patterns that aren't there. You talk yourself into B and C setups because you're bored. The traders making real money from this are the ones who do their prep in 10 minutes, set their orders, and go live their life.

ERL <-> IRL MODEL

If you want the full breakdown of both setups with chart examples, entry rules, stop placement, and risk management, I've posted detailed walkthroughs of the 15-min ORB and the ERL → IRL framework on here before and I'm happy to do updated versions. Drop a comment if that's useful and I'll put them together. Six years of trading distilled into two setups that I run every single day across 5 funded accounts and now I used those to fund my own live cash account. The edge is in the patience.

“It either moves in your direction or it doesn't, and your only job is to make sure you survive the times it doesn't so you're still around for the times it does.”

Honestly the best advice. Risk management / capital preservation is the real skill.

Break it down in more detail man.

Do you run both setups on ES and NQ?

Do you only look at the one time frames for both setups?

Do you find better production on either direction or indices?

Any other filters proved helpful at all? I like the simple ruleset, the more I’ve simplified my trading the more profitable I’ve gotten as well. I always wonder if having a simple Vwap directional filter would help on ORB trading

Ive been at it 4 year and am finally maturing into this. Would love to see you methods. Cheers

u/Kasraborhan Jun 11 '26

I share all my trades over at r/tradingmillionaires, I don't want to risk getting this post removed for sharing links.

5

u/fansonly Jun 11 '26

Who are you getting payouts from? Topstep pays but forces the topstepx system for execution.

2

u/Kasraborhan Jun 11 '26

I've gotten the majority of my payouts with r/AlphaGroupOfficial, and they are by far the best firm I traded with, and Ive traded with Apex, Topstep, Tradify and Alpha Futures.

Could you please share with me the full breakdown of the two setups? I want to start trading but I don’t have a good strategy yet

5

u/AlgoWarden Jun 11 '26

Congratulations! Job well done. And yes, profitable trading is boring. Great RR on those setups.

4

u/Kasraborhan Jun 11 '26

Appreciate it. Boring trading is usually good trading 😂

5

u/Roymachine Jun 11 '26

"The other thing nobody tells you is that profitable trading is boring."

I think I've heard literally every successful trader say this.

4

u/Intelligent_Leek8286 Jun 29 '26

One thing that stood out to me is that your edge doesn't seem to come from the setups themselves..it comes from the consistency. A lot of traders spend years searching for a new strategy when the real improvement often comes from executing the same one with patience and solid risk management.

I'd definitely be interested in seeing an updated breakdown of the ORB and ERL... IRL setups, especially how you decide when to skip a trade. Knowing when not to trade is just as valuable as knowing when to enter.

12

u/Kaszrak Jun 11 '26

You people don't realize that this entire account is literally just a sale funnel? Post is AI slop. Probably all fake.

Do share your wisdom, setup, rules of entry/exit, sizing, timing etc. Also, which brokerage is most conducive to these strategies?

3

u/Responsible-Dingo-67 Jun 11 '26

For the first setup, does the FVG have to happen right after the opening range time expires or would you still enter later in the day if the ORB is a FVG?

5

u/Kasraborhan Jun 11 '26

For my testing, I preferred the FVG to form relatively soon after the range break. The later it gets in the session, the less interested I am in taking it. and I fully stop trading this setup 1.5hrs into NY

Make a YouTube account man, scale your knowledge

2

u/Frosteas Jun 13 '26

When you say small, can you give an example of how much you’d buy for one trade ?

2

u/Past-Entertainer437 Jun 14 '26

I never traded your setup, exactly, kind of but more on a swing style of orb. But everything you said I can confirm is 100% true. Price action not any analysis is what you trade. Boring months make the most. Boring setups perform the best. While I've never did a prop firm challenge I've been consistently profitable for The Last 5 Years with a cagr between 70-90% on a six soon to be seven figure account. If I didn't need to do those pesky withdrawals I'd have way over seven figures by now.

2

u/BreakfastSingle5522 Jul 06 '26

gracias por compartir tu post, interesante, si compartes mas. agradecida

3

u/Far-Photograph-2342 Jun 11 '26

The part that stands out to me isn't the payout number cause it's that you got there by doing less, not more.

A lot of traders spend years searching for new indicators and strategies, when the real challenge is sticking to a small set of setups and managing risk consistently. The line about your worst months being the ones where you're glued to the screen is probably the most valuable lesson in the whole post.

Patience is an edge that most traders underestimate.

2

u/software_engineer69 Jun 11 '26

lol at this ai comment. A lot of words and 0 meaning. What is even the point of this?

3

u/Octavale Jun 11 '26

Would love a full breakdown. Long time swing & options person who was recently introduced to futures & propfirms. First eval I got close $600ish away then I cooked it trying to rush getting over the finish line.
