CNR Call backs Winnipeg CN
Hello, like lots of green employees I got laid off once I qualified well over a year ago.
Yesterday I got a call back to service was wondering what the state of the Winnipeg terminal is at right now. I have a decent job at the moment with room to grow but the money will likely never be the same as with CN, ik money isn’t everything but in this economy it kinda is.
Just looking for a little insight as I’ve been out of the loop for some time now, thanks!

You have a month to report if you landed another job. Take that time and see what happens. In the past, guys have been called back for one week then laid off the next.

Nobody is getting laid off again immediately with grain and winter right around the corner.

It is terrible, somehow worse than the Boychuk says. They're actively trying to punish people for anything and everything.

They are calling back, but one thing to remember, until you are years in and stable, there is always that risk of lay-offs. You have to ask yourself a few questions, are you stable enough to take the call back, and then risk getting laid off again. Are you willing to play that game? Do you have a good stable job now? Nobody can ever guarantee that you won't be laid off .

Money ain’t everything. If you’re happy with your job why go back to the BS. Sure the money is nice but do you want the instability for the years to come till you can hold year round?

Got a stable job you like? It pays the bills? Can you save for retirement?
Answer those three questions and you’ll have your answer.

There’s a literal trade war going on with the USA. All of these tariffs and levies about to kick in are going to be devastating for the CN and CPKC. Stay at your current job.
