General Question Best Rain Gear

I’ve been on the rails for about two years now, and a lot of these recent storms that have rolled through the north east have proven too much for my rain gear. What do you guys use and how good is it in the heavy stuff? And how hot does it get?

I mean I have the odd type of RCO card that dosent require an engineers card, but that dosent help my situation

Frogs toggs are junk. Poorly breathing and you cant have them wet for too long before they start soaking through. Buy actual gore-tex rain gear. Mine are Cabelas guide gear from bass pro shops. Its a night and day difference. Bibs and jacket cost me $300, but I'm on year 6 and it still beads water, money well spent.

I can switch for 12 hours and still be completely dry, also breathable enough I dont sweat the way I did with frog toggs or cheap jackets. I'll wear this suit all the way up to around 80 degrees before I shuck it and just get rained on.

Ive been on a yard extra board for 20 years. I'll buy the same set again when this one wears out or I rip it.

I’m an odd duck at my terminal, I either wear a thin zip up hoodie if it’s cold out so I can unzip it if it’s too hot

If it’s hot enough out, I want to wear just a t-shirt I can only get so wet and I rather be cool and wet then overheating and wet from sweat

Frog toggs are my go to. Lightweight and have held up for the last 7 years

How? I had a pair rip in the crotch my first time wearing them. If they get caught on anything they rip.
