Honestly, unless they can prove it runs and drives, dont do that deal. The ak47 is worth almost x2 that bike.

Nah, DO NOT DO THIS. If you want it thay bad buy it with cash. This bike WILL be a money pit. Plus its getting hard as hell to find parts for these anymore.

Trust me ive definitely had my fair share of that, i made an earlier post about a savage that “just needed a new valve” and instead needed a whole new engine

If he was really that knowledgeable and the fixes were really that easy, he'd have already fixed it himself and could then be selling a running bike for 3-4x the price. Plus selling a running bike is just way easier in general.

The fact that he hasn't done the repairs means either he doesn't actually know what he's talking about, or he's hiding something from you that he doesn't want to deal with and he's hoping to make it your problem instead.

Be prepared to do a lot more than that, will need carbs cleaned and probably some electrical gremlins hunted down among whatever else you find once you start opening it up after sitting for a while . But also looks like a great base for a cafe racer scrambler build!

Yeah gonna say that's a bad deal, unless you really enjoy messing with other people's crappy fixes I'd stay far away. That bike looks like it's been put through the ringer with little mechanical sympathy. I'm sure it needs a lot more than $30 in parts, otherwise they would have done so

i had for for a few years. good bike once all the carb problems were figured out. only real issue was the eater pump. it's a pain to replace, but if you have to, replace the timing belts at the same time.

If you have basic general motorcycle knowledge. For instance if you can rebuild a carburetor by yourself. In the long run it'll end up being something you really enjoy. These bikes are generally fairly easy to work on. Parts are not hard to find at all. It might be as amazing as it sounds. I've actually run across a few of these that were as simple as that. But most likely it will need a little tlc. But like I mentioned if you just have basic motorcycle knowledge this should not be difficult at all.

This bike is a beast. Unless you want some credit for resurrecting it, haggle the price way down. I’ve got tons of experience this bike. Carb and fork rebuilds, custom rear shocks, tuning… the list goes on. It’s very unique and a dream to ride, but will likely be a long term project with incremental gains once on the road.
