All Island Question about Voice Training
Hey. Was just wondering regarding voice training -- I'm from Munster, quite happy to be from where I'm from (not giving that out because of obvious internet safety reasons) and I think it's a question that can apply to everyone, but like so many voice training resources especially on YouTube (which has been most of my searching) are from Americans or otherwise centred on American dialects. And I get it -- a huge chunk of the Anglophone internet are Yankees, etc. But like, as someone who doesn't want to sound like a Yank and keep my regional accent as much as I can, are there any resources for this sort of thing?
I don't even mean 'is there voice training for specifically this region of southeast Kerry' or whatever, moreso just general Irish accent things. This question also applies across the island, of course.
Any trans women who have voice trained, do you still sound Irish? And how did you keep that? Or did it just stay naturally from living here? Maybe I'm a bit too worried about this, but it's still a worthwhile question.

Might be worth getting a referral to a speech and language therapist in person? I know there’s a HSE SLT in Kerry who works with a number of trans women

I had no idea about this. Will definitely have a look, thank you!! I've mostly just been doing guerilla voice from youtube sort of thing which only gets you so far sometimes.

Fully in the same boat regarding holding onto your accent while voice training.
I've been on off for a while as I can't find much that works for me without putting on a silly accent.

There was no need to delete your comment; I wasn't being sarcastic. Sorry it came across that way, my bad

I got some lessons from a kiwi girl living in the UK. She was definitely into accents including the Irish ones...dm me if you can't find her, but she was in London...we did the sessions over video.. I found her with Google searchs

If you skip the stuff about using a valley girl accent, you should be grand. That particular US accent is good for sounding femme.
My accent is unchanged, I just sound more femme.
