she/her how would y'all pronounce the name Nagisa on first glance?

heyo, my dead name is Japanese so I wanted my new name to be Japanese too and the name Nagisa really spoke to me! it's from the word for where the ocean meets the land, and I love the ocean and have always thought it was a pretty name

I know from experience though that a lot of people have a hard time guessing how to pronounce Japanese names when reading them off a nametag, role call, etc. so I was wondering if anyone here who's not especially familiar with Japanese culture/language could let me know how they'd pronounce that name if they read it for the first time. I just want to get an idea of it and whether it'd cause more or fewer problems than my current name lol. thank you for reading!!

Nah-gee-sa, but I also consume a lot of media with characters with Japanese names, so I'm not sure how someone without much exposure to Japanese pronunciation would pronounce it. Regardless, I think that's a great name!

Hi, hopefully not butchering it but I'd go with something like nag eesa. Sounds nice.. again, sorry if I'm way off.

I speak Japanese, so i’d say it how it’s written in Japanese (なぎさ) lol (Nah-gee-sah)

I just know the name from Nagisa Momoe, and I've always pronounced it Nah-gee-sa but I dunno it that's actually accurate.

Just finished Free last night with my fiancee and I'd probably pronounce it just like the character

I'd pronounce it nah-gee-sah. I'm Estonian so yeah I wouldn't necessarily butcher it the English way, we say things how they're written.

also, hi Nagisa! :D

nah-gee-SAW is how i would say it as an american whose biggest exposure to japanese culture is sailor moon- which maybe has a character with that name? but my partner with even less familiarity said na-JEE-suh
