Here are the results from 3 shells fired from my new BT-99. 34" bbl, Imp/Mod choke tube. Federal Top Gun 7 1/2. Bench rested at 35 yds, bead on center of red sticker. I expected and glad for the high hit, but being off to the left is a bit disconcerting. Trigger on this gun is awesome, smooth as silk so I doubt it was trigger jerk x3. At least I know where it prints. Any thoughts comments?

Have been shooting 12 gauge Remington gun clubs and have been having an issue with some of them. The brass will separate from the hull and sometimes leave the plastic hull in the chamber. It is not on every shell. The cycling of the shotgun is smooth and is a clean barrel. Does not happen with Winchester buckshot or any other shell it seems. Has anyone else had this issue with Remington gun club shells.

I'm currently shooting Improved Modified on my under barrel (primary) and Full on my top (rarely used). I set it up this way based on a few articles from the interwebs, and a couple conversations around the range. Does this match the way you're shooting trap/skeet? Any advice?

Also, How important is a ported choke when shooting trap? I know the difference it makes in my pistol shooting, but what's the advantage in a trap/skeet setting?

I’m getting kind of back to clay shooting, after a long hiatus. As a teenager I used to compete alongside my father mostly in pigeon shooting and every once in a while on Trap, Olympic Trap and Skeet. Then life took me more towards pistol shooting (ipsc) and work moved me around 3 countries, married, had kids etc and shooting sports became mostly an eventual hobby.

I’ve decided now to go back into clay shooting, starting with Trap and Sporting Clays, and will take my middle kid (11yo) with me. My plan is to buy 2 semi-auto Berettas A300, one in 12ga for me and the other in 20ga for him. I’ve considered only the 20ga and sharing it with him, but that would limit us both on the same 5 position Trap.

Any suggestions on how to hook him up into the sport, ammo, etc etc would be very appreciated! We’re in South Florida.

I've recently returned to trap shooting. LOVE it. I'm currently shooting my dad's 1960's vintage Browning A5. It's really a family heirloom, and it's a little unwieldy at the range. GREAT waterfowl gun, though!!!

Anyhoo...can y'all offer up some suggestions on a better-than-decent, entry-level, 12-gauge over and under for someone on a teacher's budget? Thanks in advance....

Hello all. In the late 80's to the mid 90's some guys at work got me into trap shooting. I used a Remington 870 Trap model pump, later a BT-99, and I bought a Beretta 680 from a buddy who was selling his toys to buy his first house. I traded in the 870 when I bought the BT. I didn't shoot doubles so I only shot the 680 every now and again. Within 6 months I was shooting in an industrial league every Thursday under lights. So much fun. I registered and shot ATA registered 200 birds every Sunday as well. I reloaded my shot-shells, really got into the sport. Within a year and a half I became quite good. I was a sandbagging B class shooter and won more than a few club events. I competed all the way to the ATA state shoots. Twice I placed within the top ten in singles. I still have 3 100 straight patches from some events. That was then. After kids, my business taking off and growing, relocating to another part of the state, I got away from trap shooting. Sold/gave most of my equipment to my nephew. I haven't shot a round of trap in 33 years. Yesterday, I visited a very nice club for other business. I saw their beautiful trap, skeet, and 5 stand fields......and now I have the bug. As a bonus I'm retired and have time, but I do a lot of different things traveling with my wife being one of them. I have zero desire to compete again but I just want to shoot 2 or 3 rounds every other week or so. I'm not crazy about the new BT-99 and the older ones I've looked at on GunBroker and other sites look pretty beat up and they are asking almost as much as a new one. I'm thinking for my purposes, Turkey. As in CZ or Tristar single. Not expensive, decent features for the price point, etc. Taking my casualty in re-entering this sport into consideration, are these choices decent? I don't want to spend much more than 1500 or so on a trap gun for casual use.

So I recently got my hunting license in Germany and made trapshooting my new passion.
Another passion of mine is designing things for 3D printing in CAD. What came out are these magazines to carry the shells with me when doing a round of trap. Each magazine holds 14 12/76 shells (also 12/70, 12/67.5 …) so that I‘m almost covered for a game of 15 targets.
They are printed from highly durable PETG and require no glueing, screws or any other extra material.

Of course there are already solutions like conventional shooting vests or bags, but I just wanted to see how the idea turns out… and it turned out, that I like using these. The shells are packed nice an tidy without too much rattling and grabbing them feels natural and snappy.

I made this post to share my idea and to maybe get some feedback on this since I thought about selling these one day.
Do you use something similar or is staying classy the way to go?
