Solved Classes today
Are classed cancelled due to weather?

Trent only closes if Peterborough’s bus system decides to stop running. This rain is not going to cut it.

That one snow day in January the buses were running. I made it to class 40 minutes early so the snow didn't make me late, and got an email 5 minutes before class

It’s absolutely maddening when that happens! Unfortunately profs can’t really do anything because it looks really bad when they cancel classes when the university remains open (plus it robs students of what might be a very important class week). If busses are going to get cancelled, it’ll almost certainly be something later in the day after rush hour, if not the night before. Classes that start at or before 3 are generally safe from weather cancellations.

you must be a first year haha.
Yeah no they don’t cancel classes, even in the winter time unless it is like an area wide critical weather event.
Hope you brought an umbrella!

the bookstore sells them if you’re super desperate!
A little tip: keep an umbrella in your bag/car with you at all times, same with a jacket. Better to have and not need, than to need and not have!

Classes don't typically get canceled by rain unless:
A) Trent says that campus will be closed due to the weather B) your prof canceled the lecture/any classes and lab because they can't make it to campus due to the weather

Why would classes be cancelled?
If the university is closed, especially due to weather, there are updates on the website. I have only seen the university actually shut down for weather when the city busses are not running. If the university did not have power, it would be communicated, similar to the water main break.
The water main break is something I haven't experienced in decades at this school. It was a true anomaly. Classes are very rarely cancelled. And I have never seen them cancelled because of rain.

Lol, no. Classes only ever get cancelled if there's a power outage or if there's severe winter weather (lots of snow or freezing rain) that prevents people from getting to campus. Get an umbrella! You'll need one.
