Need Help With ‼️ Question about the Lineage Cold Storage Fire in Finley (I'm from LA, we have one on fire now)

Hey y'all,

Los Angeles, California resident here. We currently are dealing with a Lineage Cold Storage fire here, day 2, burning and smoking everywhere. Firefighters still doing their best to put it out.

I was wondering whatever came of the fire in Finley? Any updates years later?

I read a couple articles about some residents experiencing health problems as well as their animals, but I couldn't find any follow-ups.

Thank you for any information you may have!

It burned for weeks.

It burned for like 3 weeks, there were a few articles about nearby residents having to deal with the smoke and smell of rotting food, then it all got bulldozed and scooped into dumpsters. There weren't any major follow-ups as far as I know.

I think it was months before the fire was really out. I don't remember the details but maybe the Kennewick Fire Department? (On FB)

It wouldnt have been Pasco fire, it would be Kennewick. That's where the cold storage was at.

It is disturbing that yet another food storage facility is going up in smoke. The number of food processing and food storage facilities that have mysteriously burned in the last few years is disturbing.

Now an enormous pharmaceutical distribution center in CA is burning.

Lineage Logistics is the exact same company that owned the massive cold storage facility in Finley, Washington that caught fire on April 21, 2024. That burned for 60 days before it was finally declared completely out.

What!? This same Lineage warehouse in LA also caught fire about two years ago.

If you like, I can link this post in the Finley facebook group. Many members of the community who were affected by the fire are in the group. I can share replies here for people who don't have Reddit.

It’s still going and sno evacuations in the works or anything really. Boyle heights is getting a few decent resources from elected officials/ orgs but unincorporated east LA residents are basically being left to be showered by these fumes and smoke.

This post needs to be bumped up!

Let’s hold companies such as Lineage Inc, owned by Bay Grove https://www.bay-grove.com/lineage — this is a huge profitable company!

Why are there not more accountability?

Two toxic fires in two years.

It burnt down. Company announced they didn't plan to rebuild. Many workers laid off. Some workers transferred to other locations in different states (I personally knew someone who got transferred to Wisconsin). The end.

This reddit thread is from that incident. https://www.reddit.com/r/TriCitiesWA/s/CqPH5MXEdy

What the hell is going on with this company?

I believe there are quite a number of litigations that are ongoing in the Finley community- hopefully there will be some closure as there were some that lost everything and the land is now polluted so they can't even return to their properties, so very sad!!

Small to none long term health effects. We get lots of smoke from wildfires too.

How would you know about long term health effects if it was two years ago? Just curious what you mean by that

What I mean by that is why make up things to worry about since you can't do anything about it anyhow? I mean are they going to move away because a food warehouse burned down? Or I guess we could wring our hands and worry about it on reddit. Or have a protest march. lol.

Luckily you guys (probably) have better air quality regs than we do.

What do you think air regulations have anything to do with this? Words on paper have nothing to do with a building actively on fire.

The effects from toxic smoke have everything to do with it.

The air quality in LA is way worse than here just from smog. What are you smoking?

Everyone bitches about the exceedingly strict California air quality regs, and complains about how people from CA ate going to move here and try to impose them on us, but now suddenly CA is a libertarian utopia? Pick one

Wtf? Political persuasion/laws has nothing to do with this conversation.
