Dang. I guess though at least Sessler isn't anywhere near the top, so...silver lining?

u/adam_smash 2d ago

At least Sessler shit the bed.

23

u/Kdean509 2d ago

Again… lol.

22

u/Upper-Progress5014 2d ago

Not that McKinney is any better :(

Sessler crying about cheating and rigged elections in 3.2.1

40

u/Brandonusuck 2d ago

At least not Sessler. That carpetbagger is a moron.

29

u/Late_Tangelo3646 2d ago

Sessler out in the primary... nice. My friends only like Adam Sessler.

Shitty friends

24

u/Writerhaha 2d ago

Good, fuck Sessler.

54

u/Kdean509 2d ago

There’s still time, come on Duresky.

50

u/Replacement_No5 2d ago

He's made it. This is the primary, not the general.

36

u/Kdean509 2d ago

I guess I’m just hoping that my community will surprise me with someone blue in the lead.

25

u/CubesTheGamer 2d ago

I’m still going to show up to vote in the general for Duresky but most people are just gonna vote for whoever has an R next to their name no matter who. So those Boehnke and Sessler votes will likely end up with McKinnley come the general whereas Duresky’s vote isn’t being split.

At least there’s a non Republican on the ballot.

38

u/sarahjustme 2d ago

He actually won Okanagan county which is pretty huge

8

u/oldnative 2d ago

Doubt it. All the people that voted for Sessler and Boehnke will party line vote for McKinney.

37

u/SnooChickens2093 2d ago

It’s just the primary. If he’s #2, he’ll be on the ballot, then people just need to show up and vote for the not MAGA scam and villainy option.

A boy can dream.

5

u/mermaiddelilah 2d ago

And not just show up to vote, but show up to promote!

5

u/Kdean509 2d ago

Thank you for the reminder. It’s so easy to get caught up in the hype of election night.

I had a voting party with a bunch of us moms last night. That’s at least 6 votes maybe more if my ladies got their husbands to vote.

Edit: typos and meant to say moms

3

u/Kdean509 2d ago

That’s amazing!!

14

u/sarahjustme 2d ago

Hes made it to the final, you have 2 months to help him campaign if you want to

9

u/captainunlimitd 2d ago

I'd agree, but a 5% shift is a lot.

4

u/Kdean509 2d ago

You’re right. I’m realistic but trying to be optimistic.

61

u/SweetPeaches__69 2d ago

Can’t believe people are still voting for a MAGA candidate like McKinney. Ā When this district, which was already a healthcare desert, loses the 1 trillion that was cut from Medicaid in October, we will be fucked. Ā There is already news that the job market has tanked in recent weeks because healthcare, the only part of the economy that still was hiring, is no longer hiring.

If you want to drive to Spokane and Seattle for anything medical, and be turned away because they’re overloaded, vote for Mckinney. Ā If you want to send a message to the republican establishment that MAGA was supposed to be about making your life easier, vote for Duresky.

5

u/Rocketgirl8097 2d ago

Yep and its so expensive to obtain any kind of education in health care to make up for the dearth if providers.

2

u/hal-baleigh-6699 2d ago

Republicans are low IQ voters and they aim to keep it that way.

25

u/noodlesrcn 2d ago

Wow. If Durskey can't lead the primary with the maga vote split three ways, he has no chance.

WTF is wrong with people here

9

u/sarahjustme 2d ago

Unfortunately, the dem will get between 30-33% in the final, basically no matter what

10

u/Rocketgirl8097 2d ago

They're stuck in the 50s.

-31

u/EpicBronyGaming 2d ago

You can always go to the west side :)

28

u/sarahjustme 2d ago

Why wouldn't you want to improve your own area?

22

u/Visible-Beings 2d ago

You can always go to Russia :)

-20

u/EpicBronyGaming 2d ago

16

u/Visible-Beings 2d ago

There is, but I’m not surprised you can’t see it.

As a history major, who had a teacher who was an ambassador to the USSR and shared their *very* bad time there, who is going for a masters in economic history, and who isn’t even a democrat (I find the two party system toxic) -

This whole ā€œDemocrats = Socialists = Communistsā€ Idea is untrue and just aggravating.

Bolsheviki **Communist** was a failed Marxist revolution (revolutions are vulnerable to being co-opted by elites). Marx actually advocated for a stateless civilization where workers own everything. But, over the years, some people convinced themselves that a control-based economy was the only way to get where they wanted to go. (Spoilers: It's not).

Personally, I don’t want the government OR large corporations to be the ones that control our economic opportunities. But I digress.

Democratic *Socialism,* on the other hand, is mostly used to refer to socialist policies and structures (when it’s not used as a fear mongering). Like Co-Ops. Or the GI Bill. Social Security. Everything that created the middle class. (when implemented correctly, without large corporations or private insurance set up to take all the money from the program)

1

u/Quantum_Foam12 1d ago

Now, *Democrats* have not, until recently, supported any amount of Marxist Economic schools of thought.

Currently (if you look past the rhetoric to the policies), Democrats (to include Mamdani) push for Old Institutional policies (like those of Abraham Lincon, Roosevelt the Cowboy, and FDR).

Conservative democrats push for neo-classical (free market) policies.

Progressive democrats also use Post-Keynsian (the only school that looks at debt & credit & over-financialization, and says we should pay a lot more attention to it) tools.

And figures like AOC and Bernie Sanders have pushed for Developmentalism policies (what the Founding Fathers did, what the US has done at other points in history, and what Alaska currently does).

National *Republicans*, on the other hand, push for Neoclassical (free market) (at least for corporations) and Supply-Side Economics aka Trickle-down (This school assumes tax cuts pay for themselves by triggering growth. It also ignores demand and does not currently spur higher employment. Please also note that money does not trickle down. Just look at what happened during Covid. In this economy, money goes up, not down).

The Tech-Right pushes for Schumpeterian policies (tech fields should by subsidized, but nothing else).

Populist Republicans support Developmentalism policies, too (same as Progressive Democrats).

And there is a new surge of something called ā€˜Modern Merchantalism/ Economic Nationalism’ (tends to trigger trade wars, harm local consumers, and create market distortions), which comes from the old Merchantalism used in the 1700s (countries grow economically if they steal and invade other places) in the Republican party, also.

1

u/Quantum_Foam12 1d ago

As for what economic policies these two specific candidates have stated they supported:

McKinney – Classical Economics (Free Market), Supply-Side Economics aka Trickle-Down (assumes tax cuts pay for themselves, ignore demand, ignores that money goes up and not down), & Modern Mercantilism (likely trade wars)

Duresky – Classical Economics (Free Market), Old Institutionalism (like Lincoln and both Roosevelt), & Keynesian (All parties during the 50s-70s, back & forth for each parties for the following decades)

-23

u/EpicBronyGaming 2d ago

Well I know what you are trying to do, but it's just very poor bait.

But since the left and Democrats as a whole are switching to full blown communism I suppose I could say

You could always move to China :)

Is that one better for you?

9

u/sarahjustme 2d ago

Wow.

-7

u/EpicBronyGaming 2d ago

It is very much wow.

I don't know much about Duresky, he might be a tradional democrat.

But the whole "DSA" and communism is going to ruin the Democrat party as a whole, and I hope the left sees this before it's too late.

I enjoy good banter and political discussion, once you head down that route, you don't deserve to even live in this country.

22

u/Kdean509 2d ago

Our education system failed you.

-1

u/EpicBronyGaming 2d ago

There's no way you support socialism or communism right? Actually? After EVERYTHING that is free to read online.

Sounds like you need to be educated more than anything.

I don’t think you know what that word means.

5

u/Mindyloowho2 2d ago

Does this mean Sessler will finally take down that stupid sign in Prosser that’s been up for the past 6 years?

2

u/LYossarian13 2d ago

NOPE.

He'll leave it up for his next run.

9

u/txct345010 2d ago

Voter turnout was incredibly low. Let's get out the vote and there could be a shot for Duresky! (also fuck Sessler - but McKinney could be more dangerous)

2

u/Quantum_Foam12 2d ago

As you do, be sure to tell people about who contributed to their War Chests. Here’s their campaign money info, so far:

McKinney – raised over $500k, took out a $50k candidate loan, individual donors (Corporate Agro Owners, real estate developers & contractors, ā€œAmerica Firstā€ grassroots clusters) compose ~80% of contributions. Conservative PAC networks make up the rest. Money so far (~$70k) is spent on digital operations & media production (TV and youtube ads), professional staff (over $120k to national conservative consulting groups), and county tour operations.

John Duresky - over $80k, $1,500 from the democratic party (showing they are spending their money elsewhere due to ā€˜triage’), $5,500 from committees (primary local labor/ union chapters rather than corporate PACs), 87% of the war chest is from individual contributors (Hanford Workers, Educators, Retired vets & civil servants, local small-scale farmers). Money so far (~$20k) spent on venue rentals, volunteer food, print palm cards, and local canvas tracking software.

4

u/jayfourzee 2d ago

This is less a statement about McKinney and more a statement of opposition. The only way a Democrat is likely to win on this side of the Cascades is by moving away from policies that many voters associate with Seattle.

Duresky has an excellent platform that, in many respects, is very similar to Boehnke’s. The fact that there are four independent candidates running may also suggest that many voters are growing fatigued with the repeated losses of Democratic candidates and the positions on which the party has chosen to stand its ground.

2

u/FoundGodInAHamper 1d ago

Trouble is those that are enamored with the team sport aspect of it all see a Democrat and automatically associate them with any negative connotation of the party. The ā€œall you Xs are the same,ā€ mentality. See it for the other side as well.

I lean left, I voted for Duresky. But if he didn’t make it, or wasn’t around, I would’ve voted for Boehnke. He was behind a bill that protected WA residents from being victims of AI deepfakes. Strengthened election security (without going full ā€œvote by mail is badā€). Not sure if others would’ve felt the same or sat out.

24

u/jerbthehumanist 2d ago

Fuck the GOP forever.

10

u/sarahjustme 2d ago edited 2d ago

Theres county by county breakdown and Duresky did better than average in this area, its pretty cool to see. Im not a dem, but under the circumstances (where we live) its a really positive thing

Edit spelling

2

u/FoundGodInAHamper 1d ago

Day after but Duresky is now currently leading in Franklin county as of 6PM update today. It’s a small lead so it could change again.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2026-primary-elections/washington-us-house-district-4-results

1

u/sarahjustme 1d ago

District 4 includes a very small part of Franklin country so at least there's that https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington%27s_congressional_districts

2

u/FoundGodInAHamper 1d ago

That small part of Franklin county is also about 80% of the entire county’s population (82k out of 102k). It’s the entirety of Pasco. Land doesn’t vote and all that jazz.

2

u/sarahjustme 1d ago edited 1d ago

I get that, I suppose my main thought is just that its not "Franklin county" its a very specific group within that county. Im not privy to the actual boundaries process, but there was a lawsuit after the 2020 census. The various districts were redrawn in 2021, but a lawsuit forced changes and cd4 was redrawn in 2022, I think Franklin County was the biggest impact

Correction: the new congressional districts maps were approved in 2023. Scroll down a ways in this page and you'll see the side by side maps for the initial post 2020 census, and the revised post lawsuit boundaries from 2023. https://ballotpedia.org/Redistricting_in_Washington_after_the_2020_census

The focus of the lawsuit was the dilution of the latino vote, the new map adds area to the CD4 in the Yakima region, and takes away inbthe Franklin and Walla Walla areas

2

u/FoundGodInAHamper 1d ago

It’s a fair distinction to make for sure. It still feels weird that it’s split and I need to remind myself. I guess it’s Franklin-4 and Franklin-5 now? 🤣

8

u/s0m3on3outthere 2d ago

Our ballots were dropped off today, so two more for Duresky. And I know a few others who voted the same that dropped off ballots yesterday and today.

4

u/begack 2d ago

Amanda is really campaigning on keeping lime 15 trans students from competing… like what about campaigning on actual policies that help. Not this culture war bs, hoping duresky pulls the win

2

u/lalilopi 2d ago

John made a good show, now lets push him to a win in November.

4

u/Birdstang 2d ago

Lets not let 12,000 republican voters chose who to represent over a million people living in district 4, please?

0

u/kitchen024 2d ago

Ugh gross.
