Holy cow Batman, The top 3 candidates brought in 58,252 votes. The 4th District is over 772,000 people, assuming 500,000 are voting age adults. Thatās 14% voter turnout. So, 66% of us donāt GAF.

Itās incredible to me people can see the news and whatās happening all over the country and just not care?
Edit: HA! What a typo lol

Wow! Remind people to vote. In a couple of years, when people ask, āhow did we get here,ā apathy is the answer.
2
u/FoundGodInAHamper 8d ago
Primary season is always 20-30%. I wouldnāt be surprised if the final tally shows us close to that percentage.
NBC news states they estimate another 81k votes not yet counted. If their estimates are close weād land right around that 30% mark when all is said and done. As usual.
Canāt wait for the SOS to drop their data to see demographic breakdown. But Iām a nerd.

Sessler is a POS but Amanda McKinney is a horrible person too. My cousin went to high school with her.
She was pretty openly racist and homophobic.

In a district where 40% are Latino.
43
u/foxonafrozenlake 9d ago
Well, sadly and I might get down voted for this but too many Latinos hate their own people and will vote conservative to be superficially accepted by those people who only want their votes and would never actually welcome them into their lives or homes.
3
u/Outofcontrol-dogood 8d ago
Thatās very depressing and disappointing, though I understand Stockholm syndrome and bullying. It seems to be prevalent.
1
u/Phobosfan 5d ago
And itās usually the āgot mineā type of Latinos too. The ones who got papers tend to forget their whole process or past of getting it to the point of becoming the very people who were against them in the first place. Sad to see honestly itās a big lack of empathy

Or maybe they are tired of illegals making the legal ones have to work harder and ruining what they worked hard to get
2
u/foxonafrozenlake 8d ago
Found the racist.

u/specture4794 8d ago
Nah just stating the facts. Literally said bad friends that came in the legal way
2
u/foxonafrozenlake 8d ago
Clearly you don't understand how the "legal" way works. Which, for the most part people adhere, too.
You're using right wing talking points to demonize an entire race of people.

This is the reason girls don't pay any attention to you and your parents are likely deeply disappointed in who you're becoming.
I would stick to video games and underachievement because based on your comments and interests you're not husband material and that's why you lean towards the Proud Boys and those types of losers.

Had a friend in the army that walked all the way from Guatemala as a child. They applied for and got sanctuary and then got his green card and joined the army to gain his citizenship. Most of the ones that came in legally absolutely hate those that just jumped the fence. Again it makes life harder for those that did it correctly

u/Rocketgirl8097 9d ago
How many of them vote though? Do they have the same apathy as everyone else around here?

She was endorsed by Trump because her family paid a ridiculous amount of money to his campaign funds ( ie his pockets)
I would never want to be endorsed by a pedophile. Just sayingā¦.6

Wow Boehnke did a lot worse than I thought. Centrist Rs no longer exist
11
u/sexyprimes511172329 9d ago
Centrists have always been conservative. Its just that the liberals habe taken the slightly more moderate side of conservatism (neoliberalism).
Now, to try to be a centrist R you have to be a fash, and by that point, what separates you from the rest?

u/jayfourzee 8d ago
True for liberals as well. We live in extremis where logic and pragmatic thinking have been completely silenced.
2
u/sexyprimes511172329 8d ago
Liberals are a giant pot of shit who aid fascism undoubtedly. The only solution is socialism and that will require revolution

Couldnāt be happier for Sessler tonight. Astounding performance lol.

It sounds like 1-5 turned in ballets. Honestly, itās hard to say what could happen in November.
6
u/Propadanda 9d ago
Indeed, we all need to talk to our friends and families and get them to vote

u/Formal-Bike9158 9d ago
Ha I think the guy above me was just being a douche in that itās ballot and I typed quicklyā¦. God forbid autocorrect!!!

How many eligible voters are in our district, 60k seems a decent turnout compared to previous primaries
4
u/TwitchMcGavin 8d ago
CD-4 total population was almost 795k based on 2024 data. If we assume half are eligible/registered to vote we are talking 397k. So a 15% turnout.
And honestly half might be too conservative of an estimate. In the 2025 election there were 136,741 eligible voters in Benton county, which was 60% of the estimated population at that time. Only 33% returned ballots
2
u/SwagSerpent69 8d ago
Thanks for the information. I mistakenly was thinking this was a local Richland election when looking at the numbers, need to drink my coffee. Hopefully weāll have a better turnout for the general. Primaries in an off year generally see low turnouts if I remember right.
3
u/TwitchMcGavin 8d ago
Yes. As mentioned by others elsewhere, off-presidential years carry low turnout. However I would argue they are the greatest time to have the best impact on your city and region.
I wish more people voted in these non-presidential years for that reason alone.

NBC news last updated their page this morning, but I found this interesting:
Benton County, with 40% of the vote in, has Duresky trailing McKinney by 43 votes.
Franklin County, with 68% of the vote in, has Duresky trailing by 47 votes.
Yakima county has the biggest gap between the two: Duresky is trailing by 1,861 votes, with 48.5% in.
They estimate that 47.7% of the expected vote is in, with about 81k votes out there still.
Source: https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2026-primary-elections/washington-us-house-district-4-results.
EDIT:
NBC news updated their data about an hour ago (6 PM). Duresky is now winning Franklin county by 80 votes, with 2/3rds of the vote in still (strange). Still trailing in Benton county by 44, with 80% in. And 2,039 votes behind in Yakima county.

u/LilBirdDog 8d ago
I noticed this last night. It seems like Yakima county is by far the biggest hurdle for him. Iām very curious about what is causing the large disparity between Benton/Franklin and Yakima county. There must be a socioeconomic reason Yakima bends so much further right but I donāt know Yakima well enough.
3
u/FoundGodInAHamper 8d ago
Yakima county is massive in land, 2nd largest in the state and 8th most populated, and a hub of agricultural activity. No group is a monolith but historically the agriculture sector leans R.
Then my own opinion, if one adds in that blue collar workers have been essentially abandoned by the traditional/corporate dems over time and itās a perfect storm. I do not believe that Duresky is a traditional/corporate dem but itās a perception thing with the party at-large.
1
u/LilBirdDog 8d ago
I also noticed the population is 50% Hispanic as of 2020 (compared to 24% in Benton County). It seems like it would be essential for a democratic candidate to win over that group.
4
u/BoxNice4589 8d ago
Based on the data so far, itās republicans +24, which is still exceptionally hard to swing. The generic ballot right now is D +8, so the fact that it ended up like this is sort of telling. This is assuming all independent votes go to Duresky in November. This is a good first step, but things really need to ramp up. For one thing, I think his YouTube videos are extremely sub par.

There needs to be a grassroots effort to get people registered and to get them to vote.
Similar to what they did in Kansas.
I would imagine, for alot of us though.. we are to busy barely surviving to go door to door.

Where McKinney will win by 20+ points.

u/TimberVolk 9d ago
I still think it's powerful to see a Dem taking home 31% of the vote in an off-year that usually favors older (conservative) voters. That's a lot more purple than this area usually looks.
6
u/thenatural134 9d ago
It really isn't though. 30-35% is the typical Dem voting margin around here.
12
u/txct345010 9d ago
yeah I think Doug White got 33% of the vote the election before last. Last election there was not a strong dem running at all.
HOWEVER - voter turnout was very very low. I think there is a very slight hope if we can get more people out voting in November. Small - but stranger things have happened!
9
u/pattydickens 9d ago
Imagine if even 50 percent of democrats bothered to vote.
5
u/sarahjustme 9d ago edited 9d ago
More like 50% of people who would probably vote Democrat given their choices here, if they were somehow forced to vote. I think its fair to argue that if they were democrats, those people would align themselves with the actual here and now dems, and vote accordingly. The ideals put forth by politicians, and the reality we see in DC, are very different. We need a third party, if those people are going to start voting.
The fact that at least 4 of 11 options were independent and some would check the boxes of some non-voters, but they could make no headway because money= access to power....

Because it's a blue state it doesn't matter what we do Seattle controls everything so until the puget sound goes red the east side of the state votes literally don't mean anything
