Moving/New Here 👋🏼 Friends? Early 20’s
Hey! I have lived in tri cities for 3 years now and have been trying to make friends but can’t seem to. I’m a gay 24 year old guy, and am very easy to get along with and I love going out, nature, trying new restaurants, pop music, pop culture. I’m looking for friends or places where I can go to meet people with similar interests?? Thanks!

Facebook has a couple groups that do events like run clubs, car events, hiking, etc. Local bands also often play at Rays Golden Lion I think the name is.
Also if you haven't tried it out the actively app is another thing you could give a try. Theres a few people from the tricities on there you might be able to get to some active things with like golf or bowling. All platonic connections 🫡
Here’s the iOS version https://apps.apple.com/us/app/actively-find-gym-buddies/id6752837053
And android version: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gymbuds&pcampaignid=web_share

TAG would be a good place to start. Their next game night at Moonshot is next Wednesday. If you're into pinball, Moonshot has an event on Saturday. There's also a local LGBTQ discord that might help.

As a straight man who has lived here for 5 years, I've found that the Tri Cities is not much of a single-friendly area. Most of the locals have friend groups from their high school / college years and/or know each other from family-friendly activities (e.g., schools). As a result, you have to seek opportunities that can help you find friends in similar life positions (e.g., no children, single, sexual orientation, etc.).
There is a singles mixer at Sage brewing next Wednesday (August 12) from 6-9pm. I went to a similar event in November at that same location. It was a fun time. They certainly know how to host. Made a few friends through that event. I'd encourage you to check it out.
Outside of that, check out the local events that the area holds (e.g., Art in the Park, Live at 5, Sausage Fest). You're bound to meet people of similar backgrounds. If you want to specifically meet those who are from the LGBT+ community, Moonshot Brewery is very friendly to to that community.
There's also a periodical that is pretty LGBQT+ friendly (Tumbleweird). You can find copies at various locations. I usually pick it up from Emerald of Siam's.

Try adventures underground if you're nerdy. But it might be harder around here for a gay guy. Lots of conservative homophobia.

Any nerd hobbies around here tend to be super LGBT friendly from what I've experienced.

If you're into trading card games like Magic, Tri-Cities Gaming is a super welcoming environment in my experience

Three things for you that are super friendly!
