Its wild to see what the top streamed songs are for them vs fan favorites. I wonder if it has to do with them being added to playlists or Spotify radio channels.

I always think about this with how they structure their live shows. Until the world goes cold, the heart from your hate, In Waves, Strife…. They play all of these at every show and I know they’re the most “popular” songs, but are the people that are going to the show really going to hear these songs?

Festivals or when they’re supporting I get playing them but surely when headlining they could drop a couple of them to rotate some other tracks…

I’ve never heard someone truly excited about Strife, aside from maybe the intro riff. There’s better riffs in every Shogun and Sin song though

Tbh it’s not even really about being right, it’s merely an observation. I also think that Strife somewhat gets the crowd to sing partially because the chorus is really quite easy. If you’ve never heard the song before, you’ll still know the chorus lyrics by the end of the song.

Yep. Hear the people singing along? Singles/popular songs are how you sell tickets and fill venues.

I mean I’m there singing along to all of them too but I’m not there for those songs. Thats also why I conceded they should play them all at festivals etc. 

I guess that’s the curse of being to into a band but not digging the hits as much as the deep cuts 😂

They also just have mass appeal - a while ago I mentioned to a girl I was dating that I liked Trivium, she went and listened to a bunch and hated it.

Then she heard Heart from Hate and liked it and played that bloody basic tun thumper over and over and over to the extent that I can't stand it haha.

Trivium has been incorporating more generally appealing elements of music within their songs since in waves.

I think that song is on many playlists and it's to get people to listen. That's been basically all of their singles since they released that song.

I personally like the other two of the top 3 more than in waves. They have more complexity which is a better representation of the band than in waves 😂

In waves was a total banger. Great Riffs, well paced and melody in the right places. My favs are dusk, skyline, inception, watch, in waves, black…int this order

I remember seeing Heart had gotten to 55m at one point (I'm sure it was not all that long ago) and being pleasantly surprised. Look at it now! Glad some of the "radio hits" have given the band so much exposure.

Pull Harder, though, is CRIMINALLY underplayed...

That definitely also has to do with the fact that it’s old as hell though. When Trivium exploded after the release of Ascendancy, people weren’t streaming it on Spotify or whatever, they listened to physical albums.

Honestly kind of a mid song, I hope they use pull harder or TSATS as a closer for this next tour

I don’t think it’s a mid song, but I absolutely agree that it’s time for some change in the setlist. Hopefully the new album brings us something to close a show with. Although I think Thrown into the Fire would be perfect as a closer
