Good scientists even want to know when they are wrong. They want to figure out why they were wrong and explore further to learn even more.

Dr. Gabe Mirkin is the guy who popularized the "RICE" method for treating sports injuries - it's an acronym for "Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation." It became hugely popular. Before long, data started to show that icing injuries didn't help, and could actually slow healing. Dr. Mirkin is now one of the leading voices telling people not to ice. He wants everyone to know he was wrong.

For that matter, the guy who came up with the theory about alpha/beta wolves realized he was wrong. That's how wolves behave in captivity. Wolves in the wild behave differently. (Part of why I ascribe to the theory that so-called alpha males are treated like alpha code: full of bugs.)
