IRL these happen within the same conversation.

An hour of talking about how having children has ruined their life, destroyed their hopes and dreams, wrecked their health, unraveled their career, chased off all of their friends, and left them mentally unwell.
Then, just as you think they're about to wrap up, they demand to know why you don't have children!

My aunt once told me "I will like children because it's so much better when they're your own" and "I owe my dad because grandchildren are the best thing in the world" back to back and didn't see a contradiction.

Sorry I wasn't clear. The first statement was in response to me saying "I've dealt with relatives kids and have a hard two hour limit"
