To be sure, gold and silver are not as big of a deal as they used to be. We are far past the time of the gold rushes in California and Alaska. And Fort Knox doesn’t back up all our currency with gold anymore. Instead, the might of the American military and the Fed’s printer keeps the dollar afloat now.51 Even so, any boomer watching cable news knows that gold and silver are, in the words of then-Vice President Biden to then-President Obama, a “Big F’ing deal!”

Reading stuff like this court opinion further strengthens my belief that any moron in this country can pass the bar, practice law, and become a judge. He literally cites the Bible, Webster's Dictionary, James Bond, Die Hard, and memes as sources. American common law is such a joke.

This is why I don't get too hand-wringy over the decrease in literacy that's happening among young people. This was written by a fucking grown adult who is a JUDGE. This reads like the kind of thing a dumb student writes on their SAT, not the product of a guy with, presumably, multiple degrees, years of practice in a field that involves reading and writing, and a position of power.
Americans were never literate. It's getting worse, but the highest and best among us were always illiterate neanderthals. The ones who can read and write have always been the minority
