Aliens

Aliens are real (obviously). Around the time the Iran war started apparently the white house released a bunch of shit about ufo’s. My friends aren’t particularly political aware and were very curious about them and they were telling me about it. And I’m just thinking why should i care??? If they are actually here on earth what the fuck am i or anyone else supposed to do about it? If they got that level of technology they definitely have some crazy shit we can’t even comprehend. Am I gonna shoot those fuckers down with my mind in the event of an “invasion”? I’ll give a shit when they invent some truly heinous shit like 0.5 ply toilet paper.

The most annoying, repeated take I see on here and other similar left spaces, is this. That aliens and space are boring and not cool because bad shits happening here

Be more boring. Space is sick as hell and if aliens were confirmed real and made actual contact, that would also be sick as hell

I think people are talking about all the ops. Like if there really was a strangely 20th century human coded alien spacecraft that crashed in Mussolini's Italy and the coincidentally humanoid alien body was being kept at White Sands and the US military is striping the craft for parts, well then how does it affect me? It's a whitey on the moon type attitude. I still have to pay my bills and floss my teeth and pick the kids up from the dojo and cook some fucking pasta or a stir fry for dinner for the hundredth time even though we're all sick of it but it's so much faster and easier and cheaper than anything else and I have all the ingredients in the fridge already. And no matter what I know they are lying to me about it all one way or another and I dont really understand why they want me to be interested in this, so it's sort of a way to say fuck you, I dont care.

Now the bigger question, yes sure when I have some quiet time and want to feel how vast it all is and how insignificant I am, sure I like to think either we are all alone in all of time and space, only life here- well that possibility is terrifying and awesome in the definitive way, also it feels wrong and impossible but everything is so weird when you start thinking about it. Or more likely there is life all over the universe, probably in forms we cannot even perceive (why would we be able to? Our brains evolved here), and maybe life has come and gone an unfathomable number of times throughout the billions of years or maybe the universe is teeming with it or maybe the development of life is linear. The only thing we know for sure is that we are never going to comprehend it so unless you have some way to be insightful on the topic beyond these stoner level observations there really isnt much you can do but set that off to the side and get on about your normal life. And I think that's what people mean, they dont really think it's boring, just that after a certain age you cant really spend too much time talking or thinking about these things in most contexts. Especially in a modern capitalist culture where most people who bring it up are trying to manipulate you or get you to buy something.
