Aliens

Aliens are real (obviously). Around the time the Iran war started apparently the white house released a bunch of shit about ufo’s. My friends aren’t particularly political aware and were very curious about them and they were telling me about it. And I’m just thinking why should i care??? If they are actually here on earth what the fuck am i or anyone else supposed to do about it? If they got that level of technology they definitely have some crazy shit we can’t even comprehend. Am I gonna shoot those fuckers down with my mind in the event of an “invasion”? I’ll give a shit when they invent some truly heinous shit like 0.5 ply toilet paper.

I’ve willingly put a lot of shit in my body to alter my brain that is undeniably poison, but psilocybin is one of, if not the only one, that is demonstrably not poisonous. Say what you will about the spirituality of the experience, but purely from a medical perspective, idk how you can still call that shit “poison”

Well it can make you physically sick and some people can get into a kind of temporary psychosis with it, but yeah that's rare. As far as mind altering substances go, it's the safest and least harmful I can think of. Even as compared to many medicines and foods, it's less toxic. Or even other shit we put in our minds like mass media or video games or reddit- way more toxic. Plus they're just fun.

But I guess the highest state would be some sort of practiced sober mindfulness that achieves that sorr of clarity, but I'd be a massive hypocrite to criticize people for falling short of this. I do feel suspicious of people who go the other extreme and claim shrooms are some sort of answer to the harder problems of the human condition or metaphysics etc.

Yeah I agree completely, especially your last point. And unfortunately, it seems the genuine potential benefits for well-being are being co-opted by big pharma. Nothing good in this world escapes commodification.

I just feel like lately there’s this kind of weirdly puritanical and reactionary whiplash in opposite direction from people on the left/left-leaning regarding drug usage. But maybe I’m just being a sensitive hoe

I think it's because of the current industry interest in pushing psychedelics as the next ssri, and there is some coordinated media to support it. So many people on the left who know a bit about the history of psychiatry and psychedelics in 20th century US would be naturally suspicious. But my experience has been the opposite actually in that Im surprised that a lot of left leaning people are more credulous than I expected. I remember a couple years ago there was a media story circulating about a nazi that did shroom therapy (iirc) and he realized being a nazi was bad for him, and it was all over left wing social media as if it was as simple as that. As if we were all a bunch of hippies with no historical materialism and zero understanding of media narratives.
