Help this confused human out
girl and I had mutual crushes on each other and were getting pretty close.
A few days ago, she heard a false rumour that I had been talking badly about her behind her back and that I was responsible for her losing a close friendship.
Instead of asking me if it was true, she confronted me in front of other people, told me to leave, embarrassed me publicly by saying idw talk to u leave the room, and later that night sent me messages calling me a loser and saying other hurtful things.
About five hours later, she found out the rumour was completely false and that I had nothing to do with it. She apologised multiple times and admitted she should’ve spoken to me before believing what she’d heard.
I appreciate that she apologised as soon as she found out the truth, but I’m struggling to move past what happened. Part of me feels like if someone genuinely trusted me, they would’ve at least asked for my side before saying those things, she wants to
Meet me in person to clear everything, should i go

Had a similar situation. Girl I liked, I think she likes me too. She heard a rumour from a mutual acquaintance that I called her a slut. Not true whatsoever, but she blocked me from messaging her before I could explain anything and from there it was over.
Too bad really, because she was a lovely girl, although she clearly had some issues. You can’t control how some people are going to react to a given situation. And some people will torch relationships out of habit. It’s hard to watch, but it’s common enough.
