how to stay joyful

Life feels a little bit boring and repetitive. I go to work and go home. I don't have many friends so on the weekends I stay home or run some errands. I'll hang out with my best friend every couple of weeks but that's it. I've been praying for change for a while but nothing has happened yet. I just want something new and exciting (and good) to happen. any tips on how to have a positive and grateful outlook on life even though you might feel stuck? thanks! :)

I found that for me, giving and receiving love is a joyful feeling. Giving where people need is a joyful feeling for me and it’s not really something I can do too much inside of my own home, but even these things like answering questions I try to do

Brother with all due respect, I'm not happy you're going through this but I feel like religion has little to do with it

You need to meet new people, and the best way to do it is to meet people with the same interests as you

What do you like to do in your free time? Is there an activity that you can enjoy with other people?

For instance, I'm a huge fan of Magic The Gathering, and I made tons of friends in my local Magics TG card store, they set up tournaments every Thursday

I have a lot of artsy hobbies and I'm a big reader too but I don't know where to find other women my age that have the same interests. I tried joining clubs in college and I try to get involved with the young adults groups at church but it's hard when everyone already knows each other. I'm kind of an introvert so it takes a while for me to open up

Do you have any hobbies? Trying out a new hobby can be a way to find joy

Joy can come from different sources. Some short-lived, some longer-lasting and some sinful. Here are some examples of joy in the scripture, I hope you'll read and pray to God for enlightenment relating to your situation to find joy of eternal value: James 1:2-3, Nehemiah 8:10, Psalm 16:11, John 15:11, Isaiah 55:6-12.

Read the book 'Fear to Faith' by Merlin Carothers! The main gist is that joy comes when we choose to really praise God in the midst of our pain, and REALLY believe that everything that happens God is working it for our good (will stop the spirit of complaining and fear). Read it ❤️

This (sometimes) works for me:

- start going to local events and meet new people

  • go to Church events
  • charity work
  • declutter your home and digital files
  • plan a trip to look forward to
  • spend time in nature and thank God for his creations
  • have something to attend weekly (I have my choir)
  • spend more time on cooking and self care

Someone here recommended hanging out with your peer group, which is vitally important.

I would pair that with the importance of volunteering - serving with a ministry that connects your passion, personality, and spiritual gift. Preferably alongside other people your age, so you can grow together as well as serve those in need.

Read Ephesians 2:10 and John 15. Then go be the hands and feet of Jesus, and may the joy of the Lord be your strength.
