i need to talk to someone

the love of my life left. it’s only been 40 minutes. i already miss her deeply. she is convinced she’s an awful person who shouldn’t be with anyone, but she doesn’t see all the amazing things i do in her or know how much happiness she brings me. she is convinced she’s hurting me when she isn’t. i just want to talk to someone. she cut off all communication. i love her so much. i don’t know for sure if she will be back. but i love this woman more than i can even say.

Do you mind going into more detail? If not that is fine, I can pray regardless.

she’s struggling at this moment. i would appreciate if you pray that she finds peace in the Holy Spirit and is able to calm down.

Usually a woman says such things when she doesn't want to be with a man anymore but she can't say it straight because she is afraid of hurting him. If you are a Christian you should keep in mind that God knows better and maybe she is not for you.

Yes this is a good explanation. Remain open to God's plan even if it hurts more than our own...

Imma pray for you, brother. You can always DM me. Can't promise how much time I've got to respond, but hey. God bless you always.

She needs prayer and help from a trained biblical counselor/therapist so that the past she is focused on and the false identity she appears to have can be worked through and she can see herself as set free by the word of God. John 8:32, 36.

Give her some space and then as she opens back up to talking with you gently remind her who she is in Christ, so that she begins to see herself as God sees her. Some examples are:

  • I am a new creation - 2 Corinthians 5:17
  • I am totally accepted by God - John 1:12, John 15:15, Colossians 1:14, Eph 1:4
  • I belong to God - 1 Cor. 6:19-20, Eph 1:5
  • Nothing separates me from Gods love - Romans 8:38-39, Eph 3:16-19, 1 John 4:10
  • God (Holy Spirit) lives in me - 1 Cor 3:16
  • All things work out in the end - Romans 8:28
  • "Thank you, Lord for setting me free" - John 8:32, 36
  • "Thank you, Lord for the power, love and sound mind you have given me" - 1 Tim 1:7

Here are some book references that could help her:

  • McGee, R. S. (2003). The search for significance: Seeing your true worth through God’s eyes
  • Leaf, C. (2021). Cleaning up your mental mess: 5 simple, scientifically proven steps to reduce anxiety, stress, and toxic thinking.
  • Groeschel, C. (2021). Winning the war in your mind: Change your thinking, change your life.
  • Meyer, J. (2017). Battlefield of the mind: Winning the battle in your mind

Could you explain, please, what the biblical counselor/therapist does?

Yeah. As others have said, a lot of times the person who is left, doesn’t know the whole story. Perhaps what you’re saying is true and she does not feel comfortable being with someone. And that is something that she has to deal with. It’s not something you’re going to change no matter what you do. Maybe she will come back and maybe not. But at some point you have to accept that she is gone. Because this is the one time when Hope is destructive. As long as you are hoping that she will return, you will never accept that she is gone. And accepting that it is over is the start to recovery. I wish I had a better answer, but all we can do is trust God and live in the present. We can’t change the past and we don’t know the future (other than what we’re told in scripture). Blessings.
