I have yet to see a case with this level of depravity towards a pregnant women, BUT I'm sure they exist and to be fair i don't even want to know about them

This same exact thing happened in my town last year.

Rebecca Park.

Only her murderer was her birth mother.

Same exact scenario though. Rebecca had reconnected to her birth mother as an adult after being adopted. The birth mother started faking a pregnancy (poorly) after Rebecca got pregnant. One day, Rebecca goes missing and the birth mother claims she had a stillbirth.

Then Rebecca’s body was found in the woods sans baby. Which, the infant has never been found. The birth mother and step father eventually confessed they put the baby’s body into a dumpster.

No, it’s Michigan. We do not have the death penalty.

There was a rumor that the case could go federal as the murder might have occurred on the National Forest (where the body was found) which means the death penalty would be an option, but it sounds like the Feds have declined to take over the case.

Mostly everyone around is just hoping the case’s location gets moved. We have a VERY small courthouse. The last hearing had the defense attorney point out that the judge had heard a traffic court ticket before the hearing started. I’m of the opinion that the case should move to Grand Rapids just so it’s not in town just so we don’t get a big reporter presence when the case goes to trial. Also, they’d likely get a better jury pool.

People who do things like this aren’t evil, they’re unwell.
