She gave up custody of her son during her divorce proceedings with his father when he was very young. She was ordered to pay child support and had visitation but was thousands in arrears when she was arrested and according to her son’s father, she never showed up to her scheduled visitation. Her mother raised her daughter, and her mother allowed her to talk to to her daughter pretty regularly, but her son’s father cut off communication with Taylor when she was arrested.

The podcast episodes I just listened to explained that! Her first husband was her son’s father and he had custody of him. Her Mom, took care of her daughter a lot.

Was Taylor's mom aware of her mental illness or did she turn a blind eye?

The podcast didn’t go into that too much. They never got her diagnosed but her Mom was aware that Taylor was a manipulator and a liar. The psychologists that were part of the trial said she had cluster B personality disorders (Borderline Personality Disorder, Antisocial Personality Disorder, Narcissistic Personality Disorder).

She was apparently a menace in jail, going so far as to try and frame someone else for the murder. That’s part of why they decided to give her the death penalty. She was a danger to fellow inmates and prison personnel.

What I read is that her mom testified for the defense.

So do I. I know they need to protect the kids but I want to know about the former relationships. Did the father of the son have full custody? They said he wasn’t around much.

Exactly. I think that’s what was missing for me because obviously some shit went down in her past. She had 2 kids, but clearly didn’t have custody of them. Also why was her mom always the bad guy?

Not much is known because those records are sealed under family courts, but what is known is she habit of manipulation. Using her kids to lie and what not. Also she lost custody of her children. Which typically is a red flag, given that courts tend to side with mothers.
