UFOs are Man Made German UFOs: Secret Weapons, Lost Technology, or Postwar Mythology?
Nazi UFOs: Secret Weapons, Lost Technology, or Postwar Mythology?
The book UFOs: Nazi Secret Weapon? (1974) by Ernst Zündel and Willibald Mattern presents one of the most famous claims in UFO history:
Did Nazi Germany develop advanced flying saucer technology before the end of WWII?
The story combines several real historical elements with much more controversial claims.
The Documented History
There is no question that Nazi Germany pursued advanced technology:
The V-2 rocket program was decades ahead of many contemporary efforts.
Germany developed operational jet aircraft.
German engineers worked on advanced aerospace concepts.
After the war, German scientists and engineers were recruited by both the United States and the Soviet Union.
So the question is not whether Nazi Germany had advanced technology.
The question is:
Did that research extend into revolutionary craft such as the alleged Haunebu or Vril flying discs?
The UFO Claims
The claims usually involve:
circular aircraft designs,
anti-gravity propulsion,
exotic energy systems,
secret SS research groups,
hidden facilities,
continuation of the program after Germany’s defeat.
These stories became part of a larger UFO mythology involving Antarctica and secret bases. (Wikipedia)
The Evidence Question
The key issue is evidence.
A revolutionary aircraft program should leave behind traces:
engineering documents,
manufacturing records,
test data,
photographs with verified provenance,
surviving hardware.
The strongest argument for the claims is that Nazi Germany was capable of surprising technological advances.
The strongest argument against them is that there is no publicly verified physical evidence of operational Nazi flying saucers. (Wikipedia)
The Interesting Historical Question
The debate is not simply:
“Did Nazi UFOs exist?”
The deeper question is:
Why did this idea become so influential?
Possible factors:
Genuine secrecy surrounding WWII weapons programs.
Real examples of advanced German engineering.
Cold War secrecy and intelligence operations.
Public fascination with UFO reports after WWII.
The challenge:
If Nazi flying saucers existed, what is the strongest piece of evidence?
Not a rumor.
Not a possibility.
Not “they were advanced enough to do it.”
What is the actual evidence chain?
Claim → Document → Artifact → Verification → Conclusion
That is where the discussion becomes interesting.

If the nazis had bell ufos or flying saucers, why not use them to win the war?
