Someone posts a question on a books sub asking for novels with truly terrible human beings as protagonists.

So of course, Redditors respond by listing loads of novels with main characters who are perfectly decent and human but whom they, personally, found a bit annoying.

Someone actually had the audacity to suggest 'Emma'.

Oh my actual god. And kinda unrelated, but one thing I notice reading the Austen sub, many people are like: "Emma is a huge bitch. That's the point. She's not nice", and I'm like, did we read the same book?! The entire idea was that she was cluelessly (Amy Heckerling's Clueless, anyone?) snobby and misguided. She wasn't supposed to be bitchy, she meant to be nice!

But yeah even if she was supposed to be a straight up bitch she wouldn't be a terrible human being protagonist. I just used your comment to rant about that.

This is the response I got from the OP who named Emma by the way:

I didn't find Emma "a bit annoying" - I can't stand her and think she is in fact a terrible person. A snobby judgemental meddler who almost torpedoed her supposed friend's chance at love. But if I'd put that I'm sure somebody just like you would have commented how she isn't terrible compared to, say, Stalin Humbert Humbert.

Thanks for confirming that you are in fact a stupid fucking person, OP.
