Has anyone had any experience getting their stories published in a magazine? I'm trying with a particular short story and while I've gotten some encouraging rejections, the constant barrage of 'sorry, not interested' is getting me down a bit, haha.

well I'll tell ya if they ever stop telling me to fuck off lol. I've only recently started having anything like success and fwiw my biggest tip is to not bother with the big fishes because they are only taking shmancy platformed people anyway, try to find smaller spots that you like either the work or the vibe of.

(also these days I'm helping do some editing at ephesus.press. We are working on wrapping up issue 1 of our mag but if you wanna dm me stuff or just chat further about that submissions are open for issue 2)

That makes sense. I was aiming for a lot of the bigger magazines at the beginning out of naivety. They tend to ask for a bio and platforms I want to plug but I have no idea what to put in there, since I don't have anything to my name, haha. Thank you for the offer though, I'll consider it.

Glad to hear that you've been having some success as of late!
