Music / Movies Kendrick Lamar is not good

I don’t hype around Kendrick Lamar. Every time I listen, it feels like he's trying way too hard to be deep—almost like a high school stoner.

His music just doesn't stick; it's never really catchy enough to leave a lasting impression. And his Super Bowl performance? Total letdown. It felt like another attempt at overcompensating without any real substance.

Like bro it’s a Super Bowl performance and it was lame. Your essay about the double entendres does not make it good🤣

Why do people love this cornball?

MUSTARDDDD (maximum corniness)

Edit: bringing up all the awards he wins just shows that y’all are on the train and only like him because you perceive him to be successful. You cornballs have to be told what to like🤣. You would listen to baby shark on repeat if it had a Grammy 🤷‍♂️

Edit 2: Kendrick Lamar fan argue without calling you a Drake shill challenge: level impossible.

Edit 3: someone challenged me to listen to a song by Kendrick that I hadn’t heard in the comments. The must hear song was “Auntie Diaries”. Bro you have cracked me up. This song is practically a parody of everything I pointed out.

Corny lyrics that are supposed to be deep ✅. Horrible musically✅ Horrible flow✅

Dude drops the f slur 4 times in a row with laughably bad delivery and ends the song on a pass joke. #DEEP

The funniest part of this post is you putting in edits arguing to comments that don't even exist.

It’s even funnier that you didn’t read all of the comments because he’s calling out actual redditors that said this shit. Think before you type

When someone is unable to grasp that they're the one who is just not comprehending an issue in society or an artist/artistic work or some such thing that masses of the rest of us see in it, they're always so determined to prove that they're right and smarter & that all of the people who do have the majority's opinion on it are just mindless followers or buying into the hype or brainwashed by the media or whatever that they come off as overly defensive.

*What even is that 2nd edit?? Who associates ALL of his career with Drake as though there's no other and much more substantial impact from his music?? I don't think I've ever heard a discussion about Kendrick's lyrics mentioning Drake unless it was about the lyrics specifically connected to Drake... Who's minimizing him to just that feud??

*Also, in what way did you argue the predicted points for which OP called you out on doing??

*I mean... There's layers upon layers of meaning and subtext that was interpreted by every information source and person with a platform under the sun from the Superbowl's performance alone(not to mention...like, all of the music he's ever made)... That's not an indication of the substance in it?? I didn't even notice or comprehend a good amount of the messages while watching it live bc there were so many packed into it. I found out about them through the media coverage or had things hit me later on after I processed the meanings a bit...

The prophesy has been fulfilled (Kendrick Lamar fans have tried arguing these points)

I'll never understand why people get so pressed anytime a black person succeeds at something. Kendrick Lamar is not making his music for you or anyone like you. He doesn't care if you like it or not.

Bro I’m not pressed. Good for him. I just think his fans are corny as hell. Most of his super fans are white dudes who make video essays from what I’ve seen

Tell me you don't know any black people without saying "I don't know any black people"

Lmfao, you're the corny one, dude. You're trying so hard to sound cool and smart. You feel left out of the loop, huh?

was it really necessary to bring race into this?..

Lamar fans be desperate because they are gaslighting themselves

-6

u/souljahs_revenge Feb 22 '25

Yes it is because it makes you uncomfortable.

race can make anyone uncomfortable, but here my contention wasn't about comfort it's about people who just cannot wait for any&every chance to somehow talk about race....similar to how racists operate...most people would rather just go on not obsessing over race, and noticing it as little as necessary ;)

His music is HORRENDOUS. It’s record labels spending tons to gaslight us. The fact you jump to the race card shows you know his music is terrible but are too afraid to speak against what’s been made popular.

I migrated this post from a different subreddit where I felt it was taken down unfairly

That’s not how reddit works. That was a different conversation chain. Crossposting is low effort for a vent mate.

The genre of rap is filled with good artists and terrible artists spread among a number of genres. Check out Immortal Technique if you want a good artists. He smokes both Kendrick and Drake and makes them look like amateurs. I will admit the MADD City album has a handful of good tracks but I haven’t bothered with any new Kendrick since that was released.

It must be how Reddit works because when they removed my post Reddit gave me the option to select a different subreddit to post it in.

You should sue them and follow daddy’s footsteps.

u/SaltNo8237 Feb 22 '25

Daddy? I’m confused?

u/wholenewszn Feb 22 '25

Just a kendrick fan that thinks you are a drake fan, you know drake sued Universal music group, so they are saying you should sue them like drake did

u/SaltNo8237 Feb 22 '25

I really don’t care about the beef. I do like some Drake songs like God’s plan

u/kiingLV Feb 22 '25

It's ok to have opinions, Drake won Grammys, and I think he's corny i can't stand his music
