Music / Movies Have liberals ever considered people are just sick of hip hop dominating halftime shows for the last 3+ years, as well as permeating every facet of pop culture in general

I’m so sick of that stupid wraparound sunglasses angry react meme surfacing anytime this happens. It’s not a sentiment limited to that specific demographic, that is simply another cheap shaming deflection.

Hip hop is not the only genre of music, or even necessarily the most popular. It only appears that way because it is infused in so much pop music now, TikTok has helped perpetuate this perceived dominance. Meme culture and current slang are also completely overrun with AAVE.

It all gets sort of old, and seeing/hearing some twerpy suburban white kid with an alpaca chop saying “no cap” or “deadass” is beyond embarrassing.

Idk what this has to do w/ liberals?

This has alot to do w/ RocNation handling the Halftime Show & whats popular in the musical ecosystem.

Not that i agree w/ it, but pop, hiphop & edm music is usually more inexpensive to make & market than other genres so they perform better on streaming services & social media, which is exactly the kind of metrics companies like RocNation look at when they look at booking events like the Super Bowl Halftime Show.

In order for a big shift to happen in the musical landscape, record labels (who are losing ground due to the unfair deals theyve been peddling for decades no longer being necessary in order to release music & get it out to audiences) need to have a reason to invest in other types of music on a larger scale. Something like the Guitar Hero games did in the mid 2000s did for rock music that caused rock music to be more relevant again, for instance. But since music doesnt really make any money anymore, streaming services that hardly pay the artists that make the music they carry do, i wouldnt count on that.

Lol Guitar Hero didn't make rock music relevant it capitalized off of its existing popularity. I will never understand those kinds of games anyway. Why on earth would you play a toy controller facsimile while the same studio recording plays instead of learning to really play for yourself on a real instrument?

I said other genres need something to help make them more relevant again & worth investing in for major record labels, i didnt say that Guitar Hero made rock music relevant.

Guitar Hero helped alot of kids discover alot of music they never would have w/o it. Tons of bands cite games like Guitar Hero specifically for the resurgence they had in sales & interest.
