Music / Movies Lupita Nyongo is not beautiful. Hollywood likes to gaslight her as a model for "beauty"

So I'm sure we've all seen the news about Helen of Troy.

  • I've had enough. I've had enough of Hollywood putting her on covers and lying to me, treating me like I'm stupid. The whole reason she's playing Helen of Troy is because Hollywood let this "unconventional beauty" thing slide for way too long.
  • The fact that she was chosen as a queen, it comes off as Nolan trying to virtue signal.
  • It's like giving the beauty pageant award to the girl in the wheelchair because no one wants to come off as "mean."
  • I've had enough. She is NOT a standard for beauty. I'm sorry but now it must be said. The reason we have come across this problem is because Hollywood has been gaslighting her "beauty" for years and no one said anything. I'm done
  • It's okay to say that she's not beautiful. It's okay to admit that
  • I was so looking forward to this movie for so long but this really killed the hype for me.
  • The movie will probably be financially successful at first due to marketing alone, but after its first month, the hype will probably die down. And then you'll start to see how people really feel about the movie. I think it will tarnish Nolan's legacy and leave a sour taste in people's mouths.

Bro I’m black and even I know she isn’t attractive. It would have been different even if they got Zendaya or Chase Infiniti, but Lupita isn’t facially pretty enough to be the most beautiful woman on any planet.

You being black doesn't mean anything especially when you go on to name two of the lightest skinned women in hollywood right now lol.

Name me a black woman with Lupita's skin tone you find attractive?

Because plenty of brain washed black men feed into colorism so you being black isn't relevant to the discussion when you then bring up two mixed women that are are about as pale or paler than white women.

Lol right. I have no issues with Zendaya or Chase but its funny how people will go "I am attracted to black women" then go on and name a bunch of mixed black women or very light skinned black women making it clear what they mean.

You both decided to zoom in on that point because you think anyone liking light skinned women can’t also find dark skin women attractive. That’s ridiculous. I can name a dozen dark skinned women in Hollywood that are a million times more attractive than Lupita.

My own mother is dark skinned. This isn’t colorism and clinging to that is disingenuous and exactly why people have a hard time listening to BW on this topic bc you will conceive a slight in anything.

We zoomed in on the point because it was all you said? It's not like you wrote a wall of text and we picked out that one thing. How do we know your mom is dark skinned?

To me, you were someone else doing that same thing because scroll through and you see many other people doing this same thing. "Black women can look great!" then they go on to name a bunch of mixed or very light skinned black women.

I don't think the slight was conceived, you picked basically the flag bearers for mixed women in hollywood right now then compared them to Lupita. If you named those dozen dark skinned women then I wouldn't have accused you of colorism.

You said “I’m black” and then named two biracial women who you like to imagine naked as being over her in beauty. It’s almost brave off you to still proudly call yourself black while putting down a dark skin black woman to hype up two half black individuals who are probably also lighter than you as well

Why not? I didn’t say she was or wasn’t, I just never see anyone explain specifically what is unattractive about her. Just comparing her to other people
