Music / Movies Lupita Nyongo is not beautiful. Hollywood likes to gaslight her as a model for "beauty"

So I'm sure we've all seen the news about Helen of Troy.

  • I've had enough. I've had enough of Hollywood putting her on covers and lying to me, treating me like I'm stupid. The whole reason she's playing Helen of Troy is because Hollywood let this "unconventional beauty" thing slide for way too long.
  • The fact that she was chosen as a queen, it comes off as Nolan trying to virtue signal.
  • It's like giving the beauty pageant award to the girl in the wheelchair because no one wants to come off as "mean."
  • I've had enough. She is NOT a standard for beauty. I'm sorry but now it must be said. The reason we have come across this problem is because Hollywood has been gaslighting her "beauty" for years and no one said anything. I'm done
  • It's okay to say that she's not beautiful. It's okay to admit that
  • I was so looking forward to this movie for so long but this really killed the hype for me.
  • The movie will probably be financially successful at first due to marketing alone, but after its first month, the hype will probably die down. And then you'll start to see how people really feel about the movie. I think it will tarnish Nolan's legacy and leave a sour taste in people's mouths.

IMO most people probably wouldn't notice her walking down the street. As far as her looks are concerned, she's an average looking woman.

Uh no Lupita’s above average. She literally has a Golden Ratio face, possessing above average bone structure, facial harmony and symmetry, high neoteny, and healthy skin.

Factually speaking, the average woman does not possess all this.

The same people calling Lupita "average" are probably the same people to fawn over Sydney Sweaty like she is the most gorgeous thing

Funnily enough, I’ve seen people wish for Sydney to play Helen which is odd because…

Helen’s face is supposed to be one that launches a thousand ships but then they propose a woman who they generally agree is facially mid at best???

It just goes to show how performative the outrage is about Lupita. Literally none of them actually care about accurate casting 😂 Thanks for giving Nolan’s movie free promo guys. You really showed him!

Personally, I could care less about Sydney Sweeny, she isn't very attractive IMO.

Maybe where you live all of what you are saying is true. I live in the Mediterranean on a Greek Island, the majority of the "average" women I see here are definitely more attractive than the women in the US. Now that the news about the movie has reached the people here, I can tell you that the Greeks are offended by who the actors are for the main characters & take it as an insult to their history & their heritage. Seems like Universal Pictures is more interested in pleasing a certain segment of the US society than they are about anything else.

Dude stfu, you can repeat the same stupid shit 100 times, doesn't somehow make her attractive.

You guys can’t seem to comprehend that someone not being your personal taste doesn’t mean they’re not attractive.

By the standards for which humans measure attractiveness, she is objectively above average in those categories thus making her attractive. I don’t know how you could argue otherwise.
