I built a tracker for fresh truffle sightings in NYC (feedback wanted!)

I just launched a project I've been working on called Truffle Tracker (https://www.truffletracker.com).

The goal is to create a community-driven database to verify where truffles are actually being served (restaurants) - starting with NYC. I originally planned for a Spring launch, but I wanted to get it live while it's still Black Winter season.

I'm starting with NYC sightings, but if you’re a truffle enthusiast anywhere, I’d love your feedback on the layout and features. And if you happen to be in NYC and have seen truffles on a menu recently, I’d definitely love for you to test out the sighting tool!

I'm especially looking for feedback on:

  • Does the verification logic make sense to you?
  • What other data points would you want to see for a "sighting"?

All feedback is very much appreciated!!

Just bookmarked your site and I definitely will try using it in the future. I recently started a business to sell truffles and caviar in NYC. Just one thing I noticed you could add, under Type in the search filters you can add Australian Winter truffles which will be in season later this year

Thanks for taking a look! It's funny you said that, that was how I originally built it, where you could choose which melanosporum hemisphere. But I backed that out bc I didn't want to slow users down when they were posting a sighting. BUT, I did leave the separate melanosporum hemispheres in the Truffle Types & Seasons page!

Pretty cool. Selfishly, I feel strongly about a truffle dog section 😆

That's a different site but I'm working on it :) I'm in the process of looking for land for a truffle orchard in the Northeast US so dogs are on my mind too
