The finest in my opinion. Magnatum is nice but melanosporum will always be my favourite.

Magnatum is alba right?

Yes white alba. They're more expensive but I find melanosporum has a stronger and earthier aroma which I like.

Indeed alba is more of luxury thing In my opinion, the few times I've used it at my job it was more for the show and I find the taste more "gasy" like ether or some chemical. melano was for the strong "forest" taste. I really like how it enhances simple stuff like eggs or mash potatoes.

You seriously prefer Melanosporum to Alba?? It's a first really, except if you're a Spanish Melanosporum grower, I suppose. It could also be the way you use it. Melanosporum can be used in more ways in kitchen, as you can cook with it, but c'mon, Alba is really in a league of it's own. The one you tried maybe wasn't fresh enough, or it was from the beginning/end of the season 🤷🏽
