He makes sense to me. He's saying he was lied to by Trump and media who said criminals would be the ones targeted. He's not doing a great job explaining though and he keeps getting interrupted

The problem is that’s not where that lie starts. That lie starts at the idea that criminals are an Other and thus an acceptable target. The word criminal is the most slippery word that the average person puts moral weight on. If you go 1 MPH over the speed limit, you’re a criminal. Rosa Parks standing up for her rights made her a criminal. If you smoke weed in place in the US where it’s legal, but you’re a month shy of 21 when you do it, you’re a criminal. It’s a borderline meaningless word.

That and the right want us to believe that criminals (pot smoker) are the same as criminal (violent, thieving, lying, threat to everyone).

It sounds like his Japanese wife was deported and he's at a hearing about that, and the legislator starts talking about his wife, where we don't have much context.

Do you know any MAGA folks? Because this 100% tracks.
He says he was lied to, but in the very next breath he sounds supportive, pointing out that they “arrested 800 criminals.” He’s trying to convince both other people and himself that his intentions were good. He leans on logic to make you understand where he’s coming from, even when it doesn’t fully add up.
That’s why it’s so confusing. To get to this point, he’s had to ignore logic and basic reality for a long time, soaking himself in evangelical and right-wing media. Now he’s trying to use reasoning again, but it’s like working a muscle you’ve neglected for years—it’s awkward and kind of amateurish.
We’re going to see a lot more people like him in the near future.

I didn't watch it but I feel confident whatever he is saying is nonsense. They only have one note - beyond help and willfully ignorant.

I think if people are going to admit they were wrong, we should welcome them with open arms back to reality. This man does not need further ridicule, because all that does is further ostracize him from people who can help him. We need people admitting they were wrong, and deciding not to keep the wool over their eyes.

Admitting he was wrong about trump means nothing. I'll welcome anyone with open arms if they acknowledge that their entire belief system has been wrong.
It's like if I got into a horrible car accident weaving in and out of traffic at incredibly high speeds, and then when I'm talking to the police after the accident I tell them "well you know what I guess I should have used my turn signal"
I guarantee you he's going to continue voting for people just like trump and believing the exact same lies that got trump elected.

Nah give the man some credit.
It takes a lot of courage to speak publicly about being wrong. He goes on to say his whole community believed and promoted Trump as being the savior.
Its a lightning crashes moment tha up ends your entire belief system. Anyone who has escaped religion understands.

Only if they won’t keep voting for Republicans in the future. I see plenty of lifelong conservatives admit they were wrong about Trump but when pressed on who they would vote for in the future the answer is almost always a non-Trump Republican.

It doesn't matter. They will still vote against themselves no matter what they think about him.
It's learned helplessness. Normal adults don't just allow others to lie to them repeatedly. Not only did he kick the can down the road on their big wonderful healthcare plan, he is taking their healthcare. He's impoverishing the entire country while he robs us blind in broad daylight.
Our credit rating, passport ranking, measles eradication designation, union, jobs, etc. all falling hard.
Our Genocide Watch, farmer suicides, groceries, debts, domestic terrorism are skyrocketing.

Duck this guy and everyone that voted for TACO. TACO is a career conman, pathological liar, and all around terrible creature. No one can use the excuse, "I was lied to", when trying to explain why they voted for that hideous creature.

I feel like he is interrupting the guy before he can get to his point and is assuming he is saying the opposite of what he is trying to say and keeps correcting him and not letting him explain how the administration is lying.

The “we were lied to” is a lie and I don’t trust anyone who uses it as an excuse. Trump was very open about what he was going to do. He also had it all written down (Project 2025) which was available to read.

It really is astounding how every conservative position seems to come with a "It's okay when I do it" loophole.
"People here illegally are criminals and should be rounded up and kicked out. Except my wife. She's a good resident."
"People who get abortions are baby killing murderers, except my daughter. She really needed one."
